The Kuwaiti authorities announced on Sunday the identification of a person who appeared in a video that sparked controversy on social media.
The man was filmed jumping off the Sheikh Jaber Causeway while joking with his friend in an incident that came two days after a suicide incident in the same area.
The video showed a person sitting on the edge of the bridge and joking with a friend who is filming him and asking him about the cold water.
The man later jumped off the high bridge causing widespread anger on social media because of his recklessness.
The authorities moved to the site and launched search operations in the waters.
In a statement on its Twitter account, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior said, “The criminal security sector summoned the person who appeared in a video clip circulated on some social media sites jumping from the Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah Bridge after the search and investigation procedures were completed. Necessary legal action against him would be taken.”
The latest incident comes at a time when the Kuwaiti authorities continue to search for a person who threw himself from the top of the bridge, two days ago, and thwarted the suicide attempt of another person who was with him.
According to Kuwaiti media, the commander of a police patrol on Sheikh Jaber Bridge reported that there were two people trying to jump off the bridge, noting that one of them quickly threw him, while the authorities succeeded in thwarting the other’s attempt, and took him into custody and interrogated him to reveal the circumstances of the incident.
