The Abu Dhabi Court for Family and Civil and Administrative Cases obligated a man to pay another man Dhs50,000 in compensation for the material and moral damages the latter sustained, as well as the fees and expenses.

The details of the case date back to an earlier time when the plaintiff filed a lawsuit in which he asserted that the appellee accused him of exploiting his public position through the “Zoom” application, and demanded that the appellee pay him Dhs100,000 in compensation for the material and moral damages, and a legal interest of 12 per cent as of the date of the ruling until full payment, with fees and expenses.

The plaintiff indicated that he worked as a manager and the appellee accused him of corruption and exploitation of his public profession to his personal interests through the “Zoom” app.

He added that he was convicted of the incident in absentia and sentenced to a fine of Dhs10,000 and temporary compensation of Dhs3,000.

The court said that the plaintiff deserves compensation for damage to his reputation and psychological pain.

It estimated the compensation at Dhs50,000, and rejected the plaintiff’s request for legal interest.
