Sharjah Women’s Sports Club athletes grab five golds at West Asian Karate Championship

Delivering a dominant performance, the Sharjah Women’s Sports Club team athletes grabbed five gold medals at the West Asian Karate Championship, which was hosted by the Emirate of Sharjah.

Athletes from 11 different countries participated in the championship.

Hawra Muhammad, Alyazia Khaled, Sarah Al Ameri, and Fatima Khaseif represented the Sharjah Women’s Sports Club at the West Asian Karate Championship and bagged the golds in the individual kumite category of the event.

Hawra won the gold in individual kumite for 50kg, while Alyazia took the title in the same weight category.

Fatima took the honours in the 68kg weight and Sarah Al Amri performed superbly in the 61kg category to take the gold.

The outcome is a remarkable accomplishment for the Sharjah Women’s Sports Club’s athletes, as well as for the administrative and technical staff in charge of the team.

It also serves as a powerful testament to the integrity of the developed plan in line with the framework of the club’s strategy aimed at raising the level of the game and attaining the best results at the local and international level.

The Sharjah Sports Club for Women athletes are the backbone of the UAE women’s karate squad, especially in the kumite category. They have a long history of participation in continental and international competitions, most recently with Hawra Muhammad’s participation in the World League.

The Sharjah Women’s Sports Club management expressed delight over the great achievement of the club’s athletes at the West Asian Championship, and congratulated the winners.
