Sharjah Women’s Sports Club players won six colored medals at the inaugural edition of the two-day UAE Open Arch and Arrow Championship, which concluded on Sunday at the Sharjah Police Club.

A total of 58 men and women from 11 clubs competed in the 13 different categories of the competition.

Rawda Al Awadi lifted the gold medal in the Olympic style archery event for a distance of 60 metres, while Hind Al Balushi bagged the silver medal, and Malak Al Raisi took bronze.

In the 70-meter competition, Aisha Al Ali clinched gold, while Al Awadhi won the silver, and Amina Al Awadhi claimed bronze. Archers from Kuwait and Sudan also participated in the championship.

Aisha stated that the tournament witnessed high levels of competition from all participants from various clubs, both from across UAE and outside the country, and expressed her joy at winning the gold at the event, which was the UAE Federation of Bow and Arrow’s first of its kind, with a large and diverse participation.

Rawda emphasized the importance of participating in the tournament in order to increase friction, particularly with the opportunity of competing alongside archers from other countries, which is reflected positively in the performance of all female archers and opens the way for further development of the level and good preparation for upcoming events.
