3 great action movies on Max you need to watch in November

Although it’s been working to strip some of its titles off the platform, the best movies on Max are all worth your time. Among the titles on Max that are most essential are some of the greatest action movies ever made. These movies range from modern masterpieces to under-the-radar gems that weren’t given the love they deserved upon their initial release.

While choosing just three titles means leaving off a bunch of great movies, that’s exactly what we’ve done here. These are three action movies on Max that you definitely need to watch.

Furious 7 (2015)

Perhaps the last great Fast & Furious movie, Furious 7 manages to balance the thrills with the sentiment, even as things continue to get more and more outlandish. The movie is of course marred by the death of Paul Walker, which happened while it was being filmed.

The movie’s final moments provide a fitting send-off for Walker’s character, and they turn out to be a remarkable reminder of what this franchise has always been about at its best. There are cars, of course, but underneath that, there’s family, and it’s the bond between these characters that will leave you crying at the end of this stupid, lovely action movie.

Dune (2021)

Dune | Official Main Trailer

Based on a sci-fi book that many believed to be unadaptable, Dune was a triumph upon its release in 2021. Set in the distant future on a desert planet called Arrakis, this film focuses on a young man who discovers that he may be chosen for a greater purpose. If that sounds a little bit like Star Wars, that’s in large part because George Lucas pulled much of his inspiration for that story from Dune.

Dune is darker and weirder than Star Wars, though, and that’s to its credit. Although it may be one of the headier sci-fi blockbusters of recent years, that doesn’t mean it doesn’t work. Thanks to some sterling central performances, and remarkable direction from Denis Villeneuve, Dune is compelling throughout.

Kingsman: The Secret Service (2014)

Although you may quibble about the quality of its sequels, there’s no denying that Kingsman: The Secret Service was a deserved smash when it hit theaters in 2014.

The movie, which follows a young man who quickly becomes a spy, is funny and profane and features some of the sharpest action choreography you’re likely to see Kingsman is decidedly an action comedy, but it fits into that mold perfectly, and Taron Egerton gives a star turn in his central role. Director Matthew Vaughan threads the needle very precisely here, but Kingsman was a hit because he did so successfully.
