5 movies leaving Amazon Prime Video in November 2024 you have to watch

Amazon Prime Video has a vast selection of movies from which to choose, from classics to new films as well as Amazon Originals. The great news is that you can access them all with your base Amazon Prime subscription. If you pay the extra fee, you can enjoy them without ads, too. The bad news? Movies come and go all the time, so while some stick around for a year, even longer, others could be coming up for removal at a moment’s notice.

Case in point: This month, multiple movies from the James Bond franchise will be leaving the streaming service. This includes popular flicks about the charming British secret service agent played by numerous actors through the decades like Dr. No, From Russia With Love, Goldfinger, The Spy Who Loved Me, Live and Let Die, License to Kill, Skyfall, Spectre, and No Time to Die. You might want to hop onto a James Bond marathon this month before these films are removed from the streamer. When you’re done, check out these five movies leaving Amazon Prime Video in November 2024 as well.

Need more recommendations? Then check out the best new movies to stream this week, the best movies on Netflix, the best movies on Hulu, the best movies on Amazon Prime Video, the best movies on Max, and the best movies on Disney+.

Airplane! (1980)

The world lost a comedy icon when Leslie Nielsen passed away in 2010. The ’80s were his decade with a string of popular comedies, including Airplane!, which is widely considered to be one of the best comedy movies ever made. Parodying disaster films, he’s Dr. Rumack, a man aboard a flight on which several passengers fall ill due to bad fish served at dinner. With even the flight crew keeled over in pain, someone has to help fly this plane to safety.

But the only options are a dummy pilot that’s literally a large inflatable and ex-fighter pilot Ted Striker (Robert Hays), who happens to be on board but also has a deep-seated fear of flying and a drinking problem. With the weather worsening and the sickness spreading, the situation seems dire. So, the oddball mix of folks on board, led by Dr. Rumack, must come together and what they can to get everyone to safety. Characterized by its surreal humor, slapstick comedy, and running jokes, Airplane! will have you laughing no matter how many times you watch it. Surely, you’ll love it. I am serious, and don’t call me Shirley.

Stream Airplane! on Amazon Prime Video.

The Godfather (1972)

One of the most iconic gangster movies ever made, The Godfather put Francis Ford Coppola on the map as one of the most talented filmmakers of this generation. The ensemble cast and characters, meanwhile, have become iconic, including the late Marlon Brando as crime boss Vito Corleone, Al Pacino as Michael Corleone, and the late James Caan as Sonny Corleone.

Set in 1945, the movie follows Vito and the rest of the Corleone family as they navigate the criminal underworld of drug trade, politics, and violence. It’s Michael who is at the center, however, as the film dives into his transformation from a young man who isn’t so involved in the inner workings to a vicious killer and mafia leader ready to take over the family business. Along with The Godfather, The Godfather Part II will also be leaving Amazon Prime Video this month. Completing the trilogy is The Godfather Part III, which you can stream on AMC+.

The Italian Job (2003)

Can you believe the American remake of The Italian Job is already more than 20 years old? If it has been that long since you watched, it’s time to watch again before the heist action film is gone from Amazon Prime Video. Inspired by the 1969 British movie of the same name, but with a unique story, a group of thieves are planning to steal gold from a former associate who betrayed them. Each member of the team has their own special set of skills that will play into the elaborate plot. But when one of their own double crosses them after the heist goes off without a hitch, he becomes their next target and mission. The crew members who remain want to get their revenge in the most epic way possible.

The Italian Job is almost two full hours of action, incredible car chase scenes, and tons of visual effects. Counted among the talented ensemble cast is Mark Wahlberg, Charlize Theron, Edward Norton, the late Donald Sutherland, and The Beekeeper‘s Jason Statham. You can imagine the intensity they bring to their roles, delivering an enthralling story that’s pure escapist entertainment.

Stream The Italian Job on Amazon Prime Video.

Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1975)

The Monty Python British comedy troupe is among the funniest you’ll ever come across. Best known for the series Monty Python’s Flying Circus, the show was structured like a sketch show but with absurdist themes. Its unique format shook things up at the time of its airing, and the belly laughs that came with it led to many other projects. One such project was the film Monty Python and the Holy Grail, a movie created between the third and fourth seasons of the series. It’s a singular story that parodies the journey of King Arthur and his quest for the Holy Grail. The movie became the basis for the hugely popular musical Spamalot.

It’s no surprise that many view Monty Python and the Holy Grail as one of the best comedy movies of all time. The wonderful chemistry among the cast carries over from the series, including icons like John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, and the late Graham Chapman. You can watch Monty Python’s Flying Circus on Amazon Prime Video as well, but note that those seasons are leaving this month, too.

Stream Monty Python and the Holy Grail on Amazon Prime Video.

The Silence of the Lambs (1991)

The preeminent story based on the Thomas Harris novel and characters Hannibal Lecter and “Buffalo Bill,” The Silence of the Lambs has secured its place in pop culture history. True Detective: Night Country‘s Jodie Foster stars as Clarice Starling, a young FBI trainee who turns to an imprisoned serial killer and former psychiatrist named Hannibal Lecter (Anthony Hopkins) for assistance. She’s tracking down a serial killer who goes by the name of “Buffalo Bill” (Ted Levine) and she believes that Lecter’s extraordinary yet warped mind can help her. But conversations with someone like Lecter who knows how to manipulate and terrify don’t come easy, and weigh heavily on the impressionable young woman.

Winning all five major Academy Awards the year of its release and remaining the only horror movie ever to win Best Picture, The Silence of the Lambs dives deep into the human psyche, particularly that of a killer. All three leads draw you into their characters in such a way that you can feel your skin crawl as you watch every harrowing scene. Warm up some fava beans, pop open a nice Chianti, and reacquaint yourself with this movie’s brilliance.

Stream The Silence of the Lambs on Amazon Prime Video.
