Abu Dhabi, 18 May 2025: The Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre (ADPHC) and the Authority of Social Contribution – Ma’an, Abu Dhabi Government’s official channel to receive social contributions, have signed a landmark agreement to jointly launch a fundraising initiative to support early screening programmes for cancer, cardiovascular diseases and diabetes among basic health insurance holders in Abu Dhabi emirate.

The initiative focuses on cancer screening coverage, providing free cancer screening to people with basic health insurance, including women aged 40 to 75 for cervical, breast, and colorectal cancer screening, and men aged 40 to 75 for colorectal cancer screening. In addition, the initiative includes a programme for the early detection of heart disease and diabetes risks.

The programme aims to detect type 2 diabetes and prediabetes early among individuals with basic insurance, offering men and women aged 40 to 75 comprehensive screenings for diabetes and cardiovascular disease risks. This initiative seeks to reduce complications and support early intervention to improve overall health.

The strategic collaboration highlights the joint commitment of both entities to enhance public health standards and guarantee inclusive access to essential early detection services. The partnership lays out a framework for extensive cooperation in developing, funding, and implementing a screening coverage project to aid populations with only basic health insurance coverage in Abu Dhabi.

His Excellency Dr Rashid Al Suwaidi, Director General of Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre and His Excellency Engineer Abdulla Hamid Al Ameri, Director General of the Authority of Social Contribution – Ma’an, signed the agreement during the 25th IUHPE World Conference on Health Promotion, at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).

His Excellency Dr Rashid Al Suwaidi, Director General of Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre, said: “The partnership with the Authority of Social Contribution – Ma’an enables us to expand the reach of our preventive health efforts and deliver targeted screening services that can save lives. This initiative is a testament to our shared vision of building a healthier Abu Dhabi through early detection and proactive care for all residents, regardless of their health insurance coverage.”

His Excellency Engineer Abdulla Hamid Al Ameri, Director General of the Authority of Social Contribution Ma’an, said: “This partnership underscores the Authority of Social Contribution – Ma’an’s commitment to uniting the community including public, private, and civil sectors—by channelling contributions towards projects that address social priorities to enhance the quality of life across Abu Dhabi. Our goal is to provide essential health services to those in need, while fostering a culture of giving and collective responsibility. This initiative empowers community members to actively participate in addressing social priorities, thereby driving social development.

“Under the terms of the agreement, the Authority of Social Contribution – Ma’an will lead the fundraising campaign through its official platforms, mobilising contributions from the public and private sectors and individuals. ADPHC will be responsible for project implementation, which includes selecting service providers, managing project execution, and ensuring quality and compliance with best practices.”

The initiative will be prominently featured on the authority’s official contributions platform, where community members can directly support the cause. ADPHC will closely coordinate with the authority to ensure budget allocation transparency and provide detailed progress reports throughout the project’s lifecycle.

The collaboration exemplifies government synergy in addressing public health challenges and reinforces Abu Dhabi’s commitment to inclusive and sustainable healthcare development.
