YouTube TV announces new plans that could help you cut your monthly streaming bill in 2026

After resolving its carriage dispute with Disney and restoring all affected channels last month, YouTube TV has announced a major overhaul coming in 2026. The streaming service plans to introduce new genre-specific “YouTube TV Plans” early next year, giving viewers more choice and flexibility to tailor their subscriptions and potentially lower their costs.

In a recent post, YouTube TV revealed that it will introduce more than 10 genre-specific packages covering sports, news, family, and entertainment content early next year. While subscribers will have the choice to continue with the platform’s main one-size-fits-all plan that offers access to over 100 channels, this shift will allow them to cherry-pick channel bundles based on what they want to watch.

So far, YouTube TV has highlighted only one upcoming bundle: the YouTube TV Sports Plan. It will give fans access to all major broadcasters and sports networks, including “FS1, NBC Sports Network, all of the ESPN networks, as well as ESPN Unlimited.”

YouTube TV also notes that subscribers will have the option to add premium extras, such as NFL Sunday Ticket and the RedZone channel, to their plans for an additional fee. Meanwhile, fan-favorite features like “unlimited DVR, multiview, key plays, and fantasy view” will be included in the bundles.

Pricing details are still under wraps, but these genre-specific packages are expected to cost less than the main $82.99 per month plan. As such, subscribers may be able to lower their YouTube TV bill starting next year, provided they’re willing to give up on some of the channels included in the main bundle.

For viewers frustrated with the rising subscription costs, this move could offer some relief by letting them tailor their live TV experience to better match their needs. YouTube TV added that these changes are only the beginning, hinting that there’s “a lot in store for YouTube TV members next year.”
