Galaxy S26 Ultra’s 60W charging might not be as impressive as you’d expect

Fast charging tech has seen significant improvements over the past few years, with brands like OnePlus and Xiaomi pushing past the 100W mark on their flagship phones. Samsung, however, has taken a far more conservative route, sticking with 45W wired charging on its top-end Galaxy S series models for several years, even as competitors continue to raise the bar.

Recent leaks suggest that Samsung may finally deliver a much-needed charging upgrade with the upcoming Galaxy S26 Ultra, bumping wired charging speeds to 60W. The company is also rumored to introduce a new PPS charging solution, which could offer noticeably faster real-world charging performance than the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s 45W system. Now, a fresh leak sheds more light on just how much of an improvement this new setup could bring.

In a recent post on X, tipster Ice Universe has claimed that Samsung’s new 60W charging solution could charge the Galaxy S26 Ultra from 0-75% in 30 minutes. The figures are allegedly based on internal testing under controlled conditions, meaning real-world charging speeds may vary.

Exclusive:!
Official test results for the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra’s all-new 60W charging show it can charge from 0 to 75% in 30 minutes.
These results were tested under Samsung’s controlled conditions. In real-world use, charging time may be longer or shorter depending on…

Given that, in our review of the Galaxy S25 Ultra, we found that the device charged from 0-75% in around 30 minutes with a compatible 45W charger, these figures do not suggest a dramatic real-world improvement. However, Samsung’s new 60W solution may be faster during the early stages of the charging cycle, based on the information seen in a previous leak.

Samsung’s 60W charging solution may be better for quick top-ups

If that holds true, the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s 60W charging solution could be notably better for quick top-ups, while offering only modest gains when charging the battery to full. We won’t have to wait too long for confirmation, as Samsung is expected to announce the device later this month.

It’s also worth noting that Samsung may reserve the 60W charging solution for the Ultra variant, as leaks suggest the Galaxy S26 and S26+ could stick with 25W and 45W fast charging, respectively.
