The Cooperative reaffirms Support for humanitarian initiatives through ‘Blood Donation’ drives and initiatives promoting community solidarity

DUBAI, UAE:

Marking World Blood Donor Day, observed annually on June 14, Union Coop reaffirmed its commitment to supporting humanitarian and community initiatives that promote voluntary blood donation and strengthen social solidarity.

The cooperative revealed that it has organized more than 80 blood donation campaigns over the past five years in collaboration with relevant health authorities, contributing hundreds of blood units to support blood banks and assist patients in need.

Commenting on the occasion, Mr. Mohamed Al Hashemi, CEO of Union Coop, said: “World Blood Donor Day highlights the vital role blood donation plays in saving lives and supporting public health. At Union Coop, we believe the private sector has a key responsibility in supporting humanitarian initiatives that create a meaningful and lasting impact on society.”

He added: “Our blood donation campaigns, organized in partnership with healthcare entities, have witnessed strong participation from employees, shoppers, and community members from diverse backgrounds, contributing significantly to blood reserves across Dubai.”

Al Hashemi emphasized that Union Coop will continue to implement blood donation campaigns as part of its annual corporate social responsibility strategy to raise awareness of the importance of regular blood donation and encourage greater community participation. He also extended his appreciation to healthcare authorities, strategic partners, volunteers, and donors for their continued support, noting that blood donation remains one of the noblest forms of humanitarian giving and a true reflection of social responsibility and community cohesion.
