Q Mobility, launched by Abu Dhabi-based investment holding company ADQ, will now operate both the toll gate system (Darb) and the parking system (Mawaqif) in the Capital.

Darb, launched in 2021, manages eight toll gates in Abu Dhabi, situated on the main bridges entering and exiting the city. Mawaqif, established in 2009, provides structured public parking facilities. The Mawaqif system is fully digitalized, allowing for mobile phone payments and integration with the Darb smart application.

The operations of the toll gates and parking systems will not be affected by this transition, according to Abu Dhabi Mobility.

“ITC will work with ADQ to boost customer experience and ensure continuity of services,” said Abdulla Al Marzouqi, Director General of the Integrated Transport Centre (ITC).

Q Mobillity will operate under the supervision of the Department of Municipalities and Transport, represented by Abu Dhabi Mobility to provide smart, sustainable transport solutions.

The company is part of ADQ’s transportation and logistics portfolio, which includes Abu Dhabi Airports, Abu Dhabi Ports Group, Etihad Airways, Wizz Air Abu Dhabi, and Etihad Rail.

Al Marzouqi added, “This step is part of our strategy to enhance partnerships with leading companies, improve the transportation system and develop the sector in Abu Dhabi.”

Expanding the portfolio with Darb and Mawaqif will be “an attractive proposition for commuters,” said Mansour AlMulla, Deputy Group CEO of ADQ, adding that it will “generate significant synergies that will translate into sustainable financial returns.”

AlMulla added, “As state-of-the-art systems solving urban mobility challenges, Darb and Mawaqif facilitate the seamless movement of people and goods. This ideally complements our existing assets in the transport and logistics sector, while contributing to the evolution of a smart, safe and sustainable transport network in Abu Dhabi.”

Parking fees in Abu Dhabi

Under the Mawaqif system, all public parking zones are paid in the emirate, from 8am to 12 am, with free parking on Sundays and public holidays. There are two types of zones in Abu Dhabi:

  • Premium (White and Blue) – Dh3 per hour. The maximum time of parking is 4 hours
  • Standard (Black and Blue) – Dh2 per hour/Dh15 per 24 hours. The maximum time of parking is 24 hours.

Residents’ parking spaces are part of the standard parking spaces located in residential areas. These are marked with a blue line or with ‘Resident Permit Only’ Mawaqif signage. These permits are enforced from 9pm to 8am.

The same parking spaces may be used by the public (non-permit holders) outside of these timings after paying the stipulated parking fees. Fees for residents’ permits are as follows:

  • Fee for UAE nationals in apartments – Free for four vehicles
  • Fee for UAE nationals in villas – Free
  • For non-UAE nationals, first vehicle – Dh800
  • For non-UAE nationals, second vehicle – Dh1,200

In multi-storey parking spaces in the emirate, the tariff applies as follows:

  • 1 hour – Dh2
  • 1 day – Dh15
  • 3 months – Dh1369
  • 6 months – Dh2738
  • 12 months – Dh5475

Toll fees in Abu Dhabi

Vehicles passing below the toll gates will be charged Dh4, except on Sundays and public holidays. The charge will apply between 7am and 9am in the morning, and during 5pm to 7pm in the evening.

However, motorists can not be charged more than Dh16 in one day. In a month, motorists can not be charged more than Dh200 for the first vehicle registered in Darb tolling system. For individuals who own more than one vehicle, the monthly cap is Dh150 for the second vehicle, and Dh100 each for additional vehicles.

The first, second and additional vehicles are according to the order in the system, which can be re-ordered; the new order will be applied in the following month.
