A strike by WestJet Airlines’ mechanics that has led to hundreds of cancelled flights over Canada’s long holiday weekend will continue until a deal is reached, the union’s president told Reuters on Sunday. The union represents around 680 workers at WestJet, including aircraft maintenance engineers, who went on strike Friday after 97% of its members rejected a pay deal reached in May. “All we want to do is to go back to the table,” said Oestreich. “The strike will be…

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) should plug the loopholes to stop disappearance of its crew members in Canada in search for greener pastures. Despite preventive measures such as collecting passports, obtaining affidavits, assigning cabin crew over the age of 50 on Canada flights, the airline has failed to foil such incidents. The main potential factors behind the disappearances of its crew members are thought to be low salaries and concerns about the airline’s expected privatisation, as well as Canada’s relatively liberal asylum policies. According to a Dawn report, one more PIA flight attendant went missing after landing in the Canadian city…

Tadej Pogacar claimed the Tour de France overall lead with a late attack in Sunday’s second stage, though the Slovenian may have been surprised by how easily defending champion Jonas Vingegaard followed him despite his recent lack of racing. While the 2020 and 2021 Tour winner’s lightning attack on the ascent of San Luca left fellow favourites Primoz Roglic and Remco Evenepoel seemingly glued to the road, Vingegaard had no trouble keeping up despite entering the race having not competed since he sustained a collapsed lung in a crash almost three months ago. “Jonas was on my wheel, we can…
