Contrary to popular beliefs, Fujairah was not deserted in ancient times but had human settlements dating as far back as 13,000 years ago, new archaeological excavations have revealed. Dr. Michele Ziolkowski, author of The Archaeology and History of Fujairah, said she had found ample evidence of human settlements as well as migration routes in the mountains of Fujairah. “Charcoal samples from two excavated trenches at Jabal Kaf Addor in Fujairah were radiocarbon-dated. A diplomat in Saudi Arabia said on Wednesday that 68 Indian nationals died during the haj pilgrimage this year marked by searing heat, bringing the overall tally to more than 600. “We have confirmed around 68 dead… Some are because of natural causes and we had many old-age pilgrims. Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) on Wednesday said that its public transport means, taxis and shared mobility vehicles transported 6.7 million passengers during the Eid Al Adha break from June 15 to 18. The numbers exceeded approximately 6.4 million riders that used public transport during the same period last year.
