Orbital debris removal company Astroscale has shared a remarkable image captured by the Active Debris Removal by Astroscale-Japan (ADRAS-J) satellite. Taken from a distance of just 50 meters, the image shows a large piece of space junk — a spent rocket’s upper stage about 11 meters in length — that’s been in low-Earth orbit for 15 years after launching an Earth-observation satellite for Japan in 2009. Astroscale has described the controlled approach as a world first. Japan’s space agency selected Tokyo-based Astroscale for its Commercial Removal of Debris Demonstration (CRD2), and ADRAS-J is a part of this initiative. Studying a…
Tucked away in the corner of Jebel Ali, among big factories, is a small structure called an air quality monitoring station. The Dh2 million facility that was unveiled on June 5, on World Environment Day, is aimed at ensuring the good health of workers in the area. “Since a lot of factories are located in Jebel Ali, we want to make sure that the air quality in this area is not impacted by pollutants,”…

Left-arm paceman Trent Boult said he had played his “last day” of international cricket after New Zealand’s disappointing T20 World Cup campaign ended with a seven-wicket win over Papua New Guinea in Trinidad on Monday. The 34-year-old has been infrequently selected for international duty since being released from his New Zealand central contract in August 2022, allowing him to play in more domestic T20 leagues abroad. But the renowned swing bowler did feature in New Zealand’s 50-over World Cup campaign last year, where they reached the semifinals only to suffer a 70-run defeat by tournament hosts India at a packed…
Summer is getting off to a slow start on Hulu, at least in regard to sci-fi movies. There just aren’t that many fresh options to watch this month, and two of them are already on this list.
