A senior Emirati diplomat has pushed for the urgent establishment and recognition of a Palestinian state as a fundamental solution to the decades-long Israeli-Palestinian conflict. A person died after ending up in a running aircraft engine at Amsterdam’s Schiphol airport, Dutch airline KLM said on Wednesday. Dutch media had reported on the incident earlier on Wednesday, while the Dutch military police, Marechausse, said in a tweet it was running an investigation. The investigation has not yet identified who the person was, a Marechausse spokesperson told Reuters. The Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (Opec) said it remains optimistic about a robust oil demand growth in 2024 and 2025 with the global economy turning relatively resilient in recent months. “For 2024, oil demand growth is at 2.2 million bpd (barrels per day), with total global demand anticipated to average 104.5 million bpd,” Opec Secretary General Haitham Al Ghais said ahead of the meeting of the Opec plus group this coming weekend.
