Environment Agency, Abu Dhabi has planted 850,000 mangrove trees along Abu Dhabi emirate’s coastal areas as part of the ‘Ghars Al Emarat’ (UAE Planting) initiative to plant 10 mangroves for each visitor to COP28 at Expo City Dubai. The UN Climate Change Conference in Dubai hosted about 85,000 participants last year. Using innovative methods like drone seeding, the mangrove trees were planted in locations that offered the most suitable environments for growth, like Marawah Marine Biosphere Reserve, Al Mirfa City, and Jubail Island. Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Mohsin Naqvi on Monday held crisis talks to resolve the row after sacked captain Shaheen Shah Afridi denied quotes backing his successor. Afridi, replaced by Babar Azam as skipper on Sunday, insisted he had not made comments backing his replacement that were quoted in a PCB statement. Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and Dubai Police General Headquarters on Monday announced changes to the timings for truck movement on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road. The adjustment of timing applies to a section of the road extending from Ras Al Khor Road to Sharjah in both directions during peak traffic hours from April 28. The UAE insurance sector continued to grow in Q4 2023, as reflected by the increase in the gross written premiums. As of year-end, the number of licenced insurance companies in the UAE remained at 60, the UAE Central Bank announced in its quarterly economic report on Monday. The insurance sector comprised 23 traditional national companies, 10 Takaful national and 27 foreign companies, while the number of insurance-related professions remained at 491.
