Overall, 2023 was a great year for movies. We had everything, from jaw-dropping epics like Oppenheimer to insightful fantasy masterpieces like All of Us Strangers. Yet, for every great movie, we also had some truly detestable efforts, from stinkers like Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania to baffling rubbish like Ghosted. Yet, out of this pile of misery and waste, no 2023 movie pissed me off more than Saltburn, Emerald Fennell’s psychosexual/psychological thriller starring Oscar-nominee Barry Keoghan. As an unapologetic fan of Fennell’s previous film, 2020’s Promising Young Woman, I had high hopes for Saltburn. Yet, I was met with nothing but failure and ineptitude, courtesy…

Ukraine marked two years since Russia’s full-scale invasion on Saturday, with a string of foreign dignitaries and officials expected to visit the capital, Kyiv, in solidarity as Ukrainian forces run low on ammunition and weaponry and Western aid hangs in the balance. A somber mood hangs over the country as the war against Russia enters its third year, and Kyiv’s troops face mounting challenges on the front line amid dwindling ammunition supplies and personnel challenges, and having withdrawn from a strategic eastern city that handed Moscow one of its biggest victories. The anniversary comes after President Volodymyr Zelensky sacked top…

Our solar system has a few new entries with the recent discovery of three moons of Uranus and Neptune. These ice giant planets are so far away that it is difficult to detect small moons orbiting them, especially when one of the recently discovered moons is the faintest moon ever discovered by a ground-based telescope. Unlike Jupiter and Saturn, which both have a plethora of moons, Uranus is known to host 28 moons and Neptune just 16. That includes Uranus’s new diminutive moon, which is just 5 miles across. Like Uranus’ other moons, it will be named after a character…
