In Doha, he received a red carpet welcome and discussed “the latest developments in the situation and challenges facing Sudan” with the Emir, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, a Qatari royal court statement said.…
The global oil market is bracing for the Opec+ alliance meeting on November 26 for a key production policy decision as the organisation continues to hold an upbeat view on world crude demand despite growing concerns about the state of the global economy. Oil prices climbed around 2.0 per cent on Friday, lifted by Iraq’s support for Opec+’s production cuts and short-covering by traders ahead of the weekend. Despite the gains, oil recorded a 4.0 per cent weekly loss, marking the third consecutive week of declines. The rally was partly driven by traders addressing record short positions and was supported…
Walt Disney Co CEO Bob Iger vowed to make its streaming services profitable via a planned October price hike on its ad-free Disney+ and Hulu plans and a crackdown on password sharing expected to extend through next year. The increases will raise the monthly cost of ad-free Disney+ by $3, or roughly 27%, to almost $14. The cost of ad-free Hulu will likewise rise $3 to almost $18 — a 20% hike that will make it more expensive than the most popular ad-free tier at Netflix. Iger spoke following Disney’s release of mixed earnings for its fiscal third quarter ended…

I didn’t move for…

This would translate into a four-day weekend for the students. Lalitha Suresh, principal of the school, said the four-day break will give families time to celebrate Diwali over an extended weekend. “Diwali celebrations in school will be low-key this year, with activities…
A senior Qatar Airways executive told an Australian Senate inquiry on Wednesday there would be no repeat of an incident at Doha’s international airport in 2020 in which female passengers were subjected to invasive gynaecological examinations. Australian Transport Minister Catherine King said three weeks ago that the examinations of 13 Australian women who had boarded a Qatar Airways plane to Sydney were a factor in her decision in July to refuse the airline additional flights to Australia. Qatar Airways Senior Vice President for Global Sales Matt Raos described the incident, which occurred when authorities were looking for the mother of…
Americans showed their steadfast resilience and kept spending online, at restaurants and other outlets in September even as they grappled with higher prices, rising interest rates and a host of other headwinds piling up. Retail sales rose 0.7 per cent in September, more than twice what economists had expected, and close to a revised 0.8 per cent bump in August, the Commerce Department reported on Tuesday. Retail sales in August were inflated after gasoline prices spiked, however. That was not the case in September when gas prices rose more slowly. A closely-watched category of retail sales that excludes auto dealers,…
