In a surprise development, Pakistan Supreme Court’s second senior-most judge, who was slated to be the next chief justice, resigned on Thursday. Justice Ijazul Ahsan stepped down a day after another top court judge Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi resigned. In his resignation addressed to President Arif Alvi, the senior judge said that he no longer wished to continue. “Therefore, I, Justice Ijazul Ahsan, resign as a Judge of the Supreme Court of Pakistan in terms of Article 206(1) of the Constitution with immediate effect,” he wrote. He also said that he had the honour and privilege of serving as a…
Art can be a confessional. It simplifies what is complicated or complicates what appears to be simple. It is a space for introspection as much as it is a site of reflection. No wonder then this is where traditional mores meet contemporary realities to reflect the complexities of modern life. Those who are in the arts often find a way to speak to the world — writers do it through their writing, musicians do it through their music and artists do it through their art. As a multidisciplinary artist, Sarah Alagroobi is steadily expanding on the definition of what art…
Top seed Novak Djokovic was drawn Thursday against a qualifier or lucky loser to begin his bid for an 11th Australian Open crown, and could meet fellow Grand Slam champion Andy Murray in the third round. The Serbian, who has won 24 majors, defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas in last year’s final then added the French and US Open titles to his collection. But the 36-year-old will begin his defence under an injury cloud after a wrist problem hampered him at the United Cup, where he lost to Australian Alex De Minaur. Greek seventh seed Tsitsipas has a tough task to repeat…
I didn’t cover a ton of keyboards at CES 2024 because, frankly, they’re not too exciting for the most part. Hyte made me do a double take, though. Its new Keeb keyboard is, without a doubt, one of the strangest, most exciting keyboards I’ve ever seen. And I can’t wait for it to start shipping. Hyte isn’t the name you think of when it comes to peripherals — in fact, this is its first peripheral ever. The company known for PC cases is expanding its horizons with the Keeb, and it seems focused on bringing the same unique design that…

The International Monetary Fund’s board has approved a roughly $700 million loan for Pakistan under a $3 billion bailout, the finance ministry said. The IMF’s completion of its first review of the programme allows for an immediate disbursement of special drawing rights worth around $700 million, bringing the total disbursements under the Standby Arrangement (SBA) to $1.9 billion, the ministry said on social media platform X. The South Asian country is operating under a caretaker government after the IMF loan programme, approved in July, helped avert a sovereign debt default. Ahead of the bailout, Pakistan had to undertake a slew…

Sending images as prompts to ChatGPT is still a fairly new feature, but in my own testing, it works fine most of the time. However, someone’s just found an image that ChatGPT can’t seem to handle, and it’s definitely not what you expect. The image, spotted by brandon_xyzw on X (formerly Twitter), presents some digital noise. It’s nothing special, really — just a black background with some vertical lines all over it. But if you try to show it to ChatGPT, the image breaks the chatbot each and every time, without fail. I tried to feed the image to ChatGPT…
