NASA has shared a video (above) telling the story of the disappearing space tomatoes, a mysterious tale that recently made headlines around the world. When a couple of tomatoes went missing on the International Space Station earlier this year, astronauts on board the orbital outpost suspected that the last person to see them may also have eaten them. But NASA astronaut Frank Rubio protested his innocence, insisting that after harvesting the tomatoes, he placed them inside a plastic bag before securing it in a designated spot. The problem was that when he returned, the bag — and the tomatoes —…
Emily put in her papers yesterday. To work or not to work, to resign or not to resign is all someone’s personal choice. Typically, I should be least bothered as a new hand could just be a click or a call away. But in Emily’s case I was a bit concerned because she toiled to put three square meals on my table without much cribbing. Emily was a trusted cook who I was lucky to get after trying out a couple of others. But what bothered me more than the fear of missing her food after her sudden exit was…
The World Health Organisation (WHO) on Thursday urged governments to treat e-cigarettes similarly to tobacco and ban all flavours, threatening cigarette companies’ bets on smoking alternatives. Some researchers, campaigners and governments see e-cigarettes, or vapes, as a key tool in reducing the death and disease caused by smoking. But the U.N. agency said “urgent measures” were needed to control them. Citing studies, it said there was insufficient evidence that vapes helped smokers quit, that they were harmful to health and that they could drive nicotine addiction among non-smokers, especially children and young people. More 13-15 year olds are using vapes…
Intel just announced its new generation of chips, code-named Meteor Lake. But it’s the Core Ultra name that you’ll see plastered all over product pages, as it’s the new brand that Intel is using. Either way, it feels like a little CES 2024 preview, with many laptop manufacturers announcing updates and refreshes to laptops that are coming soon. While there’s not much here in the way of flashy new designs or high-powered machines that can flaunt what Meteor Lake can really do, there’s a good variety to show some of the diversity of the new designs that use the chips.…
