Book’s sales proceeds from Sharjah International Book Fair will support underprivileged children through Sharjah-based global humanitarian organisation The Big Heart Foundation

Sharjah, November 16, 2024

Building on the success of her acclaimed book International Media and Cultural Communications, Dr. Nada Jaber, a distinguished media studies researcher and author, has released its English translation. Published by Mosaic House for Studies and Publishing, the new version debuted during the 43rd edition of the Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF), responding to the demand from academic institutions, university students, and researchers in the media and communication fields.

Dr. Jaber announced that all proceeds from the sales of the book will be donated to support the education of refugee and internally displaced children worldwide through the initiatives of The Big Heart Foundation (TBHF), a leading Sharjah-based global humanitarian organisation chaired by Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah.

Dr. Jaber emphasised the importance of making the book accessible to a broader audience: “This book will serve as a vital resource for universities and academic institutions in the UAE and globally. It provides a comprehensive reference for students and researchers in the fields of media and communication, bridging gaps in knowledge and fostering academic growth.”

Spanning 21 chapters and nearly 600 pages, the book offers an in-depth exploration of international media and its intersection with Arab audiences. It is meticulously designed to answer key questions and address the evolving needs of readers and scholars in media studies.

The book is divided into three distinct sections, each offering comprehensive insights into international media and cultural communication. The first section explores the various forms of international media targeting Arab audiences, ranging from news agencies, newspapers, and satellite channels to websites and cinema, highlighting notable films that portray historical Arab figures. The second section delves into the historical evolution of international media, focusing on the development of newspapers and radio stations dedicated to covering news from the Arab region. The third section adopts an analytical approach, examining the challenges and opportunities of cultural communication while assessing the impact of the internet and social media on societal cultures. This analysis is enriched by a comparative study of digital divide indicators in both Arab and Western contexts.

International Media and Cultural Communication promises to further cement its role as an indispensable academic reference, enriching the discourse on media and cultural exchange across diverse audiences.
