Abu Dhabi Customs Female Employees Explore Etihad Rail System in Conjunction with Emirati Women’s Day

Abu Dhabi Customs – August 2026

Abu Dhabi Customs, in collaboration with Etihad Rail, organized a field visit for a group of its female employees aboard the Etihad Rail service bound for the Emirate of Fujairah, coinciding with the 2026 Emirati Women’s Day celebrations. The initiative reflects Abu Dhabi Customs’ commitment to strengthening the presence of female talent in operational and specialized fields linked to the future of customs and logistics in the United Arab Emirates.

The visit forms part of Abu Dhabi Customs’ broader efforts to empower its female workforce by providing opportunities for firsthand exposure to strategic national projects and advanced infrastructure. Such initiatives contribute to enhancing practical expertise and strengthening preparedness to participate in the transformation and development underway across the customs sector.

Coordinated by the Women’s Committee at Abu Dhabi Customs, the visit included an overview of the Etihad Rail operating system, its operational capabilities, and its role in supporting trade movement and sustainable transport across the UAE. Participants also explored opportunities for integration between the national railway network and customs operations, with the aim of enhancing the efficiency of goods movement and supporting the seamless flow of procedures across ports of entry and logistics hubs.

The visit coincides with ongoing efforts to develop the Secure Customs Corridor project for Etihad Rail, which links Khalifa Port in Abu Dhabi with the ports of Fujairah. The integrated framework brings together Abu Dhabi Customs, Fujairah Customs, Etihad Rail, and a number of relevant entities to enhance the smooth movement of goods and improve the efficiency of customs and logistics procedures.

The visit also contributed to strengthening communication and the exchange of expertise between Abu Dhabi Customs’ female employees and stakeholders involved in the Etihad Rail system, supporting greater integration of roles and joint customs operations while reinforcing institutional cooperation among the various relevant entities.

Through this initiative, Abu Dhabi Customs reaffirms its commitment to advancing the empowerment of Emirati women and expanding their participation across all areas of customs work, in line with the UAE’s objectives of strengthening women’s role in vital and strategic sectors and supporting the development of national talent capable of leading the future of customs operations with efficiency, innovation, and sustainability.
