The RCP Medicine Updates Conference is a renowned recurring event organized by the Royal College of Physicians (RCP). Held several times annually in various cities across the United Kingdom, this year’s inaugural edition will be held in Dubai, UAE, from May 17 to 18 at the Conrad Dubai Hotel, marking a significant expansion into the Middle East. The conference provides a platform to showcase the latest medical research and clinical developments, fostering knowledge sharing and collaboration among healthcare professionals from around the world.

The conference brings together leading experts from the UAE and the UK to discuss the latest healthcare practices, with a particular focus on evidence-based medicine and innovation in patient care.

Among the conference organizers is Dr. Adel Al Sajwani, Consultant Family Medicine and Deputy Medical Director at Mediclinic Parkview Hospital Dubai, who commended the UAE’s significant healthcare developments in recent decades.

He added, “This is the first time the Royal College of Physicians and the UK have collaborated to host a conference here in the Middle East, and the first time in Dubai. This provides a valuable educational component, as well as a significant research component. We also have external speakers who actually treat patients there and develop guidelines, and they are here in Dubai to collaborate with us and deliver educational lectures to our doctors. We hosted over 1,400 doctors over the two days, which is a huge educational benefit. In addition to the educational and research exchange, we also have an RCP pavilion here at the conference. We are always in touch to share expertise and collaborate on research in several areas, such as cardiology, gastroenterology, infectious diseases, and respiratory diseases. In each category, we hosted approximately four lectures and a symposium, providing guidance and solutions. We also held seminars where participants could ask questions and share knowledge.” For his part, Dr. Yanal Sallam, Consultant Internal Medicine and Head of the Department of Internal Medicine at Emirates Hospital Jumeirah, Dubai, said:

“We are proud of this event, as it is the first time in the Middle East that the Royal College of Physicians has come from the United Kingdom to update us on the latest medical developments. We have experts from various subspecialties in this field to present the latest developments in the medical field.

We are also proud to host a large panel of experts to discuss this two-day event in Dubai.”

He added: “We have more than 40 lectures, delivered by more than 60 experts, including directors and lecturers. Emirates Hospital and Emirates Group are the main sponsors of this conference and have shown great support for medical conferences. They also have a special pavilion to provide support to anyone in need from the medical sector. We are pleased with this cooperation between the Royal College of Physicians and the United Arab Emirates.”

Dr. Laith Al-Rubaie, Consultant Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist at Healthpoint Hospital, Abu Dhabi, also participated, emphasizing the keenness of doctors to keep abreast of all the latest medical developments in the field of gastroenterology and hepatology.

For his part, Dr. Omar Mustafa, Registrar of the Royal College of Physicians, Global Vice President and Global Director for the Middle East and North Africa, stated that the two-day conference in Dubai witnessed international participation, in addition to showcasing the significant developments in healthcare and clinical disease developments.

It is worth noting that the conference organizer, iConference, played a pivotal role in coordinating and organizing the event in a manner befitting its global stature.
