Google is making Gemini’s personal AI avatars more social, letting you share your likeness with friends and appear together in AI-generated images and videos. You can share your avatar, tag friends in prompts, and create content featuring everyone’s digital likeness.
How to create and share your Gemini avatar?
Gemini lets you create a personal avatar using recordings of your face and voice. This gives the AI a reference for recreating your appearance and voice in generated content.
To set up your AI avatar, open Gemini at gemini.google.com, then in the text box at the bottom, click Add Files > More > select Avatar. Scan the QR code that appears with your phone, then follow the onscreen instructions to record a short video of your face while speaking, since Gemini needs both your appearance and your voice.
For the best results, record in a quiet room with even, eye level lighting that isn’t too bright or too dim, and avoid wearing sunglasses, hats, or anything covering your face. Once you finish recording, return to your computer and click the option to use your avatar, which finalizes the setup.
After that, you can tag your avatar inside a prompt @[your Google username], and the same works for anyone who has shared their avatar with you. You can learn more about creating personal avatars through Google’s support documentation.

How to share your Gemini avatar?
To share your avatar, go into Settings, open the Avatar section, and enter the Gmail address of the person you want to include. They will then get the choice to accept or decline the invitation. Google gives you full control over this process, so you can grant or revoke someone’s access at any point.
Google says you must be at least 18 years old with a personal Google account to use this feature. The feature currently supports English and isn’t available in the European Economic Area, Switzerland, or the UK.
