The forum will take place in Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre, Muscat, Oman, from 2-5 December 2024

Muscat, Oman, 25 November 2024 – The Gulf Petrochemicals and Chemicals Association (GPCA) Youth Forum, an initiative led by GPCA and the GPCA Youth Council, will return for its 3rd edition from 2-5 December 2024 during the 18th Annual GPCA Forum in Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre, Muscat, Oman. The forum, which will take place under the theme ‘Youth Powering Tomorrow: Shaping a Sustainable Future’, is led by the GPCA Youth Council comprising 32 young working professionals from 18 GPCA member companies from across the Arabian Gulf.

On 3 December 2024, young professionals and university students will have the opportunity to attend “Youth Zone: Debate” moderated by SABIC Young Leadership Council (SYLC). Nadia Al Hajji, CEO, PIC, and Sponsor, GPCA Youth Council, will deliver the Welcome remarks. She will be followed by a CEO Panel discussion, featuring Abdulrahman Al-Suwaidi, CEO, QAFCO; Khalid Al Dawood, MD and CEO, NATPET; and Naser Aldousari, CEO, EQUATE. Attendees will also have the opportunity to participate in an engaging session discussing energy and the youth with Saudi Energy Leaders Assembly (SELA).

On 4 December 2024, Dr. Abdulwahab Al Sadoun, Secretary General, GPCA, will deliver the Welcome remarks. He will be followed by a fireside chat featuring Dr. Mohammed Al-Mulla, CEO, QAPCO, and Vice Chairman, GPCA. In a special series of presentations, Ali Al-Habsi, Retired Professional Footballer, Oman; Ruba Al-Omari, Athlete, Bahrain; Ahmed Al Harthy, Professional Race Car Driver, Oman; and Abdulrahman Alhajeri, CEO, Bright Gulf, will share their professional experience with the delegates.

On the last day of the forum, 5 December 2024, young professionals can benefit from the “Youth Speed Mentorship”, designed to connect young professionals with more experienced peers, who will share their wisdom and learnings for the future. Throughout the five-day event the “Youth Zone”, prepared by the youth and for the youth and featuring a series of technical and soft skills activities, will provide young delegates with the opportunity to network, engage in skills building exercises and expand their knowledge.

Building on its success over the last two years, the GPCA Youth Forum is designed to provide a dynamic platform to young professionals from the chemical and petrochemical industry to shape the chemical industry’s future, network with senior industry leaders and build their skill set.

Dr. Abdulwahab Al-Sadoun, Secretary General, GPCA, commented: “The GPCA Youth Forum is an excellent opportunity for the region’s youth to come together and explore the challenges and opportunities that the future holds. In a brand new, innovative edition, the forum will attract young delegates from across the region offering to provide a thought-provoking program, inspirational activities and the opportunity to attend the Annual GPCA Forum, where delegates can grow their industry knowledge and expand their network. I wish great success to everyone participating this year and invite them to contribute to another memorable edition.”

About the Gulf Petrochemicals & Chemicals Association

The Gulf Petrochemicals and Chemicals Association (GPCA) was established in 2006 to represent the downstream hydrocarbon industry in the Arabian Gulf. Today, the association voices the common interests of more than 250 member companies from the chemical and allied industries, accounting for over 95 percent of chemical output in the GCC. The industry makes up the second largest manufacturing sector in the region, producing over USD 108 billion worth of products every year.

GPCA supports the petrochemical and chemical industry in the Arabian Gulf through advocacy, networking and thought leadership initiatives aimed at helping member companies to connect, share and advance knowledge, contribute to international dialogue, and become prime influencers in shaping the future of the global petrochemicals industry.

Committed to providing a regional platform for stakeholders from around the world, GPCA manages six working committees – Plastics, Supply Chain, Fertilizers, International Trade, Research and Innovation, and Responsible Care – and organizes six world-class events each year. The association also publishes an annual report, regular newsletters and various other industry reports.
