Habib Al Mulla Awards 2026: Celebrating Legal Writing Excellence

Habib Al Mulla Academy Honors Winners of the Second Edition Habib Al Mulla Award for Legal Writing in the Presence of Leading Figures from the Legal Community

Dubai, UAE – June 19, 2026 – Habib Al Mulla Academy, in collaboration with Saint Joseph University – Dubai and LexisNexis, hosted the awards ceremony for the second edition of Habib Al Mulla Award for Legal Research for 2026. The ceremony brought together legal professionals, academics, and competition finalists to celebrate excellence in legal writing. First launched in 2025, the initiative reflects the Academy’s commitment to nurturing future generations of legal talent and fostering innovation and excellence in legal research and scholarship.

The competition invited law students from across the UAE and the GCC to submit research papers addressing contemporary legislative developments in the UAE and the wider GCC region, while proposing innovative legal solutions to emerging challenges. Entries were evaluated by a distinguished panel of legal academics and practitioners.

Habib Al Mulla Academy is pleased to announce the winners of 2026 edition:

  • Fatma Jabr – 1st Place, UAE (AED 20,000 Prize)
  • Antoine Iskandar – 2nd Place, UAE (AED 7,500 Prize)
  • Fatma Alfalasi and Khawla Khamis –  3rd Place, UAE (AED 5,000 Prize)
  • Renad Alseadoon – GCC winner (AED 10,000 Prize)

The awards ceremony was held at the Four Seasons Jumeirah and featured the presentation of awards by H.E. Dr. Mohamed Al Kamali representing the Minister of Justice and Dr. Jumaa Obaid Alfalasi representing the Legal Affairs Department of the Government of Dubai, followed by closing remarks from Dr. Habib Al Mulla. The submissions were evaluated by a distinguished panel of legal academics and practitioners, comprising Dr. Sarah Al Sultan from Kuwait University, Dr. Loai Al Hamadani from Thi Qar University in Iraq, Dr. Nisrine Abiad, and Dr. Rita Waked from Saint Joseph University – Dubai. Through initiatives such as the Habib Al Mulla Award for Legal Research, Habib Al Mulla Academy continues to contribute to the development of legal education and the promotion of academic excellence, while encouraging aspiring legal professionals to engage with the evolving legal landscape of the UAE and the GCC.

Looking ahead, Habib Al Mulla Academy will start preparing for next year’s edition of the competition, which promises to be even larger in scope and impact. Participants and members of the legal community are encouraged to stay tuned for further announcements and exciting developments surrounding the 2027 edition.
