Hala Commemorates Five Years of Pioneering Success and Exponential Growth in the UAE

  • Total Hala taxi trips growth at 17% year on year
  • Achieves 21% growth in average monthly active users
  • Monthly service reliability improved by 11% on average
  • Fleet of over 24,000 Captains and 13,000 Taxis

Dubai, UAE – November 2024: Hala, Dubai’s leading e-hailing taxi service, proudly celebrates five extraordinary years of transforming urban mobility in the UAE. Launched in 2019 as a first-of-its-kind joint venture between Careem and Dubai’s Road and Transport Authority (RTA), Hala has transformed how people move across the city, setting the blueprint for convenience, reliability, and seamless service in Dubai and Ras Al Khaimah. Five years on, Hala stands as a testament to innovation and excellence in the UAE’s mobility landscape.

Since its inception, Hala has achieved astounding growth, including a 21% increase in average monthly active users, and an average of 11% jump in reliability scores. Hala has continued to raise the bar in customer experience, with a near-perfect customer rating of 4.9 out of 5 as of October 2024. Its track record includes supporting the RTA for mega events such as Expo 2020, Dubai World Cup, and COP28, making it the go-to choice for e-hailing during world-class gatherings.

Khaled Nuseibeh, CEO of Hala, shared his pride in the journey: “What we’ve achieved in the last five years has been nothing short of extraordinary. Hala was founded on a bold vision to merge public and private sectors, driving forward Dubai’s ambitions to revolutionise urban mobility under the Smart Dubai 2021 Strategy. We set out to redefine transportation from day one, and today, we’re celebrating this remarkable chapter with our founding partners, team, captains, and loyal customers who made it possible. Hala has become an integral part of daily life in Dubai, offering unprecedented ease and accessibility for everyone.”

Further strengthening its tech innovation, Hala announced a partnership with RTA and Binary Media to introduce 4,500 interactive screens in its taxis, enriching the customer experience like never before. Most recently, Hala launched an additional booking channel via WhatsApp, allowing Dubai residents and visitors to book taxis with a simple text message—becoming the first e-hailing service to offer this convenient option.

With a firm commitment to supporting its Captains, Hala has championed several initiatives to improve their well-being, including the establishment of Hala Home and the Hala Captain Club loyalty program. Through the launch of Careem Pay Wallet, Hala offers Captains digital wallet perks, such as free remittances to their home countries, cementing its dedication to those at the heart of its service.

Khaled Nuseibeh added, “On behalf of the Hala family, I want to extend our deepest gratitude to our customers, partners, and especially our incredible Captains who drive our success every day. Their hard work and dedication are the pillars of Hala’s strength and growth.”

Looking ahead, Hala is poised to strengthen its position as the region’s preferred e-hail taxi service, continuing to innovate with new features like the WhatsApp booking platform and steadfastly serving its 24,000 Captains and 13,000 taxis that have become an integral part of Dubai’s transportation ecosystem.
