Italian car designer Pininfarina worked with a budget phone maker, and the result is stunning

Luxury car designers and budget smartphones don’t usually exist in the same sentence. But that’s exactly what happened when Infinix partnered with Italian design firm Pininfarina. If that name sounds familiar, it is the studio behind some of the world’s most iconic sports cars.

The collaboration will debut with the upcoming Infinix Note 60 Ultra, a device that kicks off a new premium design direction for the brand.

The Ferrari design DNA behind the phone

Pininfarina is one of the most recognizable names in automotive design. The Italian studio has spent decades shaping legendary cars like the Ferrari Testarossa and Alfa Romeo Spider. Now, this design expertise is making its way into smartphones. The Infinix Note 60 Ultra will be the first phone created under this partnership. While the company hasn’t revealed the full design details of this phone, the aim here is clear with precision engineering and premium craftsmanship in a category typically dominated by practicality over aesthetics.

A supercar-inspired design with no camera bump

Modern smartphones often struggle with bulky camera modules as sensors get larger. Infinix tackles the challenge with a fully integrated aluminum unibody design that creates a smooth rear surface. The brand calls this the world’s first Uni-Chassis Camera Module that is crafted from a single continuous sheet of Corning Gorilla Glass Victus. This results in a phone with a sleek and uninterrupted silhouette, similar to the surfaces found on performance cars.

Here’s what it offers

The Note 60 Ultra is equipped with MediaTek’s Dimensity 8400 Ultimate chipset with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. A massive 7,000mAh silicon-cabron battery powers this device, but what truly stands out is the new Battery Self-Healing technology. The system can restore up to 1% of battery health every 200 charge cycles. Charging is equally impressive with 100W wired and 50W wireless fast charging support.

Electronics, Phone, Mobile Phone

Out of the box, Infinix’s latest premium phone runs on the Android 16 OS based XOS 16 custom skin with promises of 3 major Android updates and 5 years of security patches. The phone features a triple camera setup with a 200MP Samsung HPE main sensor, a 50MP Samsung JN5 periscope telephoto shooter with 3.5x optical zoom, and an ultra-wide angle lens.

One of the more unusual features for a smartphone in this segment is two-way satellite communication with support for satellite calling and messaging. This allows users to stay connected even in areas without traditional cellular coverage, which is especially useful for remote travel or emergency situations. Other key features include a 144Hz display, Sound by JBL, and eSIM support.

Infinix is also packaging the device with a deluxe automotive-themed gift box, which includes:

  • A supercar-inspired MagCharge base
  • Kevlar MagPad
  • Kevlar MagCase
  • Track-edition SIM ejector pin

Lastly, there are four colorways inspired by Italian motorsport, namely Torino Black, Monza Red, Amalfi Blue, and Roma Silver.
