Mastercard and Trip.com pave the way for agentic commerce in the travel sector

  • Trip.com’s AI-powered agent TripGenie simplifies consumer travel bookings  by leveraging Mastercard’s agentic commerce technologies
  • The new agentic shopping solution in collaboration with Network International, uses Mastercard Agent Suite for Merchants to enable end-to-end agentic commerce

Dubai, UAE; 16 September 2026: Mastercard and Trip.com have joined forces to showcase AI powered booking experiences for the travel sector. Powered by Mastercard’s Agent Suite for Merchants and in partnership with Network International, the organizations are showcasing how consumers will be able to search, book, and complete purchases through Trip.com’s AI agent TripGenie.

Consumers are increasingly relying on AI-powered assistants to discover products, compare options and decide what to buy. Agent Suite for Merchants allows businesses to bring agent-powered shopping experiences, including product discovery, research and consumer-authorized purchases, directly into their existing e-commerce environments.

By joining forces, the collaboration is showcasing how travel bookings can be transformed through agentic powered experiences, delivering end-to-end AI powered journeys, simplifying and streamlining interactions for consumers, and ensuring that businesses, and travel merchants like Trip, com, retain control over brand experience and customer journey.

By combining Trip.com’s travel ecosystem, Network International’s acquirer capabilities, and Mastercard’s global payments network, gateway infrastructure and agentic commerce framework and technologies, the initiative establishes a robust foundation for the next era of agentic powered travel booking experiences.

“As agentic AI drives a fundamental shift in how consumers shop, Mastercard is committed to providing merchants with a way to build, connect and scale AI-powered shopping experiences – that differentiate for their customers while ensuring they remain in control of their brand and customer engagements. Through our collaboration with Trip.com and Network International, we are showcasing how consumers can transact confidently with new solutions, powering the next era of travel,” said Mete Güney, executive vice president, Market Development, EEMEA, Mastercard.

“AI is changing travel from a search experience into a much more intelligent and personalized journey. Together with Mastercard, we are shaping the next generation of AI-powered commerce through Agent Suite for Merchants, exploring how AI agents, operating securely and with the traveler’s authorization, can intelligently facilitate travel-related transactions. Ultimately, our role is not just to help travelers find the right trip, but to make their entire journey, from discovery and planning through to booking and payment, much simpler, faster and more connected,” said Schubert Lou, CEO of Trip.com.

The collaboration is expected to enhance the booking experience for selected travel services, such as attractions and ancillary offerings. While Trip.com’s AI-powered agent TripGenie is being exclusively showcased at the Arabian Travel Market as a global first, the partners will collaborate on a phased rollout and commercial launch of the solution expected in early 2027.

“At Network international we believe agentic commerce will fundamentally reshape how consumers interact with digital services, reducing complexity and enabling more personalized purchasing experiences. As the leading payments enabler across the Middle East and Africa, Network is focused on providing the secure and scalable infrastructure required to support this transformation. Together with Mastercard and Trip.com, we are helping accelerate the future of commerce, where intelligent agents can deliver greater convenience, choice and value for consumers and businesses alike,” said Martin Pitcock, Head of E-Commerce and Omni-channel, Network International.

This approach provides a scalable blueprint for how merchants, payment service providers and financial institutions in the region can adopt agent-driven commerce, helping build confidence in agentic transactions while paving the way for expansion across additional use cases and markets.

Agent Suite for Merchants is available to merchants and businesses through Mastercard Merchant Cloud, a unified, open acceptance framework that provides a streamlined way for businesses to access modular payment solutions, such as advanced fraud protection, authentication, tokenization, data and partner services.
