RTA-Yango School Rides Expands as demand increases

Yango Ride expands RTA School Transport Pilot to more schools

Dubai, UAE, 7th September 2026: Yango Ride, the ride-hailing service and part of the UAE-based technology company Yango Group, has expanded its School Rides pilot in partnership with Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority for 2026/2027 academic year with five additional schools. The service now covers 11 school destinations across 12 residential communities.

Part of RTA’s efforts to build a smart and sustainable transport ecosystem, the service is designed to make daily school journeys safer, more cost-conscious and easier for families to manage. Its pooled model brings together students travelling along similar routes, reducing reliance on private vehicles while supporting smoother, more orderly movement around school zones during peak hours.

Building on the pilot launched in January 2026, Yango School Rides provides scheduled weekday transport between students’ homes and schools through predefined routes, fixed pickup windows and door-to-door collection within designated communities. The service now covers Al Quoz, Al Sufouh, Dubai Hills, Dubai Internet City, Dubai Marina, Emirates Hills, Jumeirah Lakes Towers, Jumeirah Village Circle, Motor City, Palm Jumeirah, Umm Al Sheif and Umm Suqeim, subject to route feasibility and verification during registration.

The current schools include the American School of Dubai, Bloom World Academy, Brighton College, Dubai American Academy, GEMS Al Barsha National School, GEMS Founders School, Dubai International Academy Al Barsha and Smart Vision School, alongside Dubai Schools Al Barsha, GEMS World Academy and Nord Anglia International School.

“At Yango Ride, our mission is to make urban mobility more efficient, accessible and responsive to the needs of each community. School Rides brings this mission to the daily school commute by combining technology, shared transport and consistent service to support families while easing pressure around school zones. Working with RTA, a key enabler of Dubai’s smart and sustainable mobility vision, allows us to expand this model responsibly and contribute to a more connected city,” said Islam Abdul Karim, Regional Head of Yango Group Middle East.

Each route uses a premium GMC vehicle carrying no more than six students. Vetted, UAE-licensed drivers receive dedicated training in student safeguarding and emergency response, while maintaining a clean driving record. Yango’s routing technology, RouteQ, supports continuous monitoring and live vehicle tracking, while parents receive a WhatsApp tracking link and pickup and drop-off notifications for clear visibility throughout each journey.

The initiative provides an additional regulated choice for families and complements existing school bus and private transport options. It is available to students aged 12 and above on a monthly subscription basis at an introductory rate of AED 1,000 for the first two months, with the standard monthly fee set at AED 1,500 per student for round-trip weekday transportation.

As the service develops, feedback from families and participating schools will help Yango and RTA assess its impact and guide future expansion. Wider adoption of pooled school transport could reduce repeated private-car journeys, ease peak-hour pressure around school zones and give more families access to a safe, consistent and cost-conscious daily commute. Over time, the model has the potential to support a more efficient school transport network and contribute to Dubai’s wider smart mobility goals.

Eligible families can now register their interest in Yango School Rides for the new academic year.
