The contribution reinforces endowment values and strengthens the culture of sustainable giving in society

Abu Dhabi, 10 March 2026: The Sheikh Saeed Bin Zayed Endowment has contributed AED 3 million in support of the “Mother of the Nation Endowment for Orphans” initiative, launched by the Endowments and Minors’ Funds Authority – Awqaf Abu Dhabi under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, with the aim of establishing a sustainable endowment funding source dedicated to orphan care across the country.

The contribution comes as part of supporting national initiatives with lasting social impact and reflects a strong commitment to reinforcing the values of solidarity and compassion that define UAE society. It also underscores the importance of endowment (waqf) as a development tool that transforms community generosity into long-term support benefiting future generations.

This initiative further advances the objectives of the “Mother of the Nation Endowment for Orphans” initiative, which seeks to convert community contributions into sustainable endowment returns invested through an approved endowment mechanism. This ensures continued support for orphans across key areas including education, healthcare, dignified living, and other essential care needs.

H.E. Fahad Abdulqader Al Qassim, Director General of the Endowments and Minors’ Funds Authority – Awqaf Abu Dhabi, affirmed that this contribution reflects the spirit of community partnership in advancing endowment initiatives. He noted that the initiative represents a progressive model of sustainable philanthropy that transforms contributions into a long-term source of support for orphan care and social stability.

He added: “Every contribution, regardless of its size, combines with others to create a collective force that delivers sustainable humanitarian impact for orphans and society as a whole.”

The Endowments and Minors’ Funds Authority – Awqaf Abu Dhabi launched the “Mother of the Nation Endowment for Orphans” initiative as part of a national vision inspired by the humanitarian legacy of the Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, aiming to strengthen the culture of endowment and encourage broad community participation in sustainable development initiatives across the UAE.
