“Donate Your Own Device” Campaign
The Campaign Aligns with UAE’s Sustainability Vision during “Zero Waste Week”
Dubai – United Arab Emirates, September 3rd 2025: As part of a shared commitment to empowering education in underserved communities and in alignment with the Zero Waste Week, “INDEX Holding” through its CSR arm “DIHAD Sustainable Organisation”, has supported the “Donate Your Own Device (DYOD)” campaign, an initiative led by The Digital School under the umbrella of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI), where they donated laptops and electronic devices to reinforce the nation’s drive toward environmental stewardship.
Guided by the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, who stated that: “Environmental sustainability is the sustainability of development and a guarantee of human progress.” “INDEX Holding” and “DIHAD Sustainable Organisation” reaffirm their commitment to supporting the UAE and the world’s drive towards zero waste and long-term sustainability. This contribution has supported the education of 368 students and reduced over 800 kilograms of CO₂ emissions, reflecting a tangible impact that aligns with these shared values.
The campaign, launched by “The Digital School” under the umbrella of the “Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI)”, and aims to collect, refurbish, and redistribute electronic devices to underserved communities, thereby reducing electronic waste while advancing digital education for children and youth worldwide. This generous contribution also reflects INDEX Holding and DIHAD’s [ME1] continued efforts to empower students in underserved communities by enhancing access to digital learning and remote education tools, while simultaneously supporting them and protecting the environment.
His Excellency Amb. Dr. Abdulsalam AlMadani Chairman of DIHAD Sustainable Organisation and Chairman of DISAB Roving Ambassador of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM) for the GCC Region, Chairman of INDEX Holding, commented on this initiative: “we recognise that education and sustainability are inseparable pillars of progress. By supporting the Donate Your Own Device initiative, we are not only providing underserved communities with access to digital learning but also championing the responsible reuse of electronic devices, thereby reducing e-waste. This initiative embodies our commitment to fostering a sustainable future, where technology serves as a bridge to education and environmental stewardship”.
Through their support for the “Digital School initiative” and participation in the Donate Your Own Device (DYOD) campaign, INDEX Holding and DIHAD Sustainable Organisation are empowering students and institutions, promoting environmental responsibility, advancing sustainable development, and contributing to the education and capacity-building of children and youth.
Dr. Waleed Al Ali, Secretary-General of The Digital School, recognizing the importance of this contribution, stated: “Every device we save from becoming waste is a spark of knowledge for a child. Through DYOD, Zero Waste Week becomes not just about protecting our planet, but about empowering the next generation with the gift of education. We extend our deep appreciation to INDEX Holding for their generous contribution of used devices. Their support demonstrates how leading institutions in the UAE are turning sustainability into real opportunities for learning, and how collective action can multiply our impact for both the environment and education.”
