TCL’s NXTPAPER 70 Pro is finally in the US, and it only costs $199

When TCL showed off the NXTPAPER 70 Pro at MWC 2026, we reported that the phone was headed to the United States in April. That day is here. The NXTPAPER 70 Pro is now officially available at T-Mobile and Metro by T-Mobile for $199.99, which is roughly half what buyers in Europe are paying for the same phone.

The T-Mobile carrier-exclusive deal likely explains the subsidy, but regardless of the reason, it’s an offer you won’t want to miss.

The headline feature is NXTPAPER 4.0, TCL’s proprietary eye-friendly display technology. The 6.9-inch FHD+ 120Hz panel reduces glare, cuts blue light emission down to as low as 3.41%, eliminates flicker, and even includes an ultra-low 1-nit brightness mode for late-night scrolling.

What are the three display modes, and why do they matter?

There is a dedicated NXTPAPER Key on the phone. It lets you switch between three display modes with a single press. Color Paper Mode handles everyday use, like streaming, browsing, and photography.

Ink Paper Mode tones things down for longer reading sessions, reducing glare and distractions. Max Ink Mode goes all the way, transforming the display into something close to an e-reader experience, but without the sluggishness that comes with actual e-ink screens.

The phone also supports the T-Pen stylus, so you can jot down notes, sketch ideas, or annotate documents directly on that comfortable display.

Is the rest of the phone worth your money?

I think so. Under the hood, the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 powers the smartphone, paired with 8GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage. The 5,200mAh battery can comfortably last for the entire day, and with 33W fast charging, topping up should not take long.

On the camera side, there is a 50MP main shooter with OIS, an 8MP ultrawide, and a 32MP front camera for video calls and selfies. It’s nothing to sing about, but you are getting your money’s worth.

Previously, NXTPAPER smartphones skipped the US entirely. Now not only has TCL fixed that, but it has managed to bring the phone in at $199.99, compared to around $320 in Europe for the base model.
