The Oppo Find X10 is ridiculously stacked, and I haven’t even got to the cameras yet

Oppo had me genuinely jaw-dropped with the Find X9 Pro and Ultra. Those phones showed just how far smartphone technology could go when a manufacturer decided to stop playing it safe. And now, we have the Find X10 series, with Oppo seemingly in no mood to take its foot off the accelerator.

For this first impressions review, I have the vanilla Find X10, not to be confused with its more capable sibling, the Pro Max. There is no Ultra model announced yet, but fingers crossed on a China-only variant. Pricing is around $1,400 and at that pricing you would normally except something capable enough – and boy, Oppo has already started flexing.

Now, a phone does not need to scream flagship to behave like one. The Find X10 seems to understand that assignment rather well. Two 200-megapixel cameras, a 7,150mAh silicon-carbon battery and a seriously capable display, all packed into a body that does not feel like it belongs in a gym. If that sounds excessive, well, Oppo might have a point to prove.

A slim phone with some serious hardware baggage

Here is the first surprise: the Find X10 weighs just 210g and measures 8.35mm thick. Considering the camera hardware and battery stuffed inside, that is a rather impressive bit of engineering. Previous camera-focused flagships could sometimes feel like carrying a compact camera with a phone attached. The Find X10 appears keen to avoid that particular identity crisis.

It comes in Glacier Blue, Glow Coral and Mist Gray. My unit is the Glow Coral variant, which has a pleasing orange tint. It also boasts IP66, IP68 and IP69 ratings, alongside a five-star SGS drop-resistance certification. In other words, it has some reassuring durability credentials to go with its premium looks.

The customisable Snap Key on the left is another feature I appreciate. Want to launch the camera instantly? Done. Prefer a quick mute shortcut? You can do that too. It is a small feature, but one that can make a difference when you use your phone hundreds of times a day.

The stereo speakers get impressively loud, the ultrasonic fingerprint scanner is quick, and the haptics feel properly flagship-grade. There is also face unlock, although it lacks the security of a dedicated 3D facial recognition system. But it works nevertheless.

That display means business

The front of the Find X10 is equally promising. You get a 6.59-inch LTPO AMOLED panel with a 2768 x 1272 resolution and a refresh rate that reaches 144Hz in supported games. Everyday usage generally tops out at 120Hz, while LTPO technology allows the display to drop to 1Hz when appropriate.

The symmetrical bezels make the front look clean and polished. It is not a revolutionary design change, but sometimes the little things make a phone feel more expensive than it already is.

Oppo Find X10

The 10-bit panel supports Dolby Vision and the BT.2020 colour gamut. Oppo claims peak brightness of 3,600 nits, although my experience suggests the phone does not necessarily outshine every rival in the brightness department. That said, it remains plenty bright for outdoor use.

There is also 3840Hz PWM dimming and DC dimming below 70 nits, which should help improve viewing comfort in darker environments. Essentially, this display has the credentials to handle everything from late-night scrolling to binge-watching HDR content without breaking a sweat.

Two 200MP cameras. Yes, two.

Now we get to the part where Oppo really starts showing off.

The Find X10 features a dual Hasselblad camera system with not one, but two 200-megapixel sensors. The primary camera uses Samsung’s ISOCELL HPE sensor, with an f/1.6 aperture and optical image stabilisation. The telephoto camera gets a Samsung ISOCELL HP5 sensor, an f/2.6 aperture and OIS of its own.

Oppo Find X10

Completing the setup is a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera with autofocus, alongside a dedicated true-colour camera and Oppo’s Lumor True Image Engine. Digital zoom reaches an eye-watering 120x, and there is even an optional Hasselblad teleconverter kit for those who want to push the zoom capabilities further. I have not tested that accessory yet, so we will save the judgement for another day.

Of course, throwing megapixels at a problem does not automatically make a camera brilliant. What matters is whether the images deliver convincing colours, good dynamic range, reliable skin tones and usable low-light performance. My initial results look promising, but the camera deserves a proper deep dive before I declare it the next smartphone photography darling.

A battery that refuses to diet

The Find X10 packs a hefty 7,150mAh silicon-carbon battery, with silicon making up 25% of its composition. That is a substantial capacity for a phone this slim, and it could be a major selling point for people who are tired of hunting for a charger halfway through the day.

Under the hood, MediaTek’s Dimensity 9600M chipset, built on a 3nm process, handles the heavy lifting. It is paired with 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM, plus up to 12GB of virtual RAM expansion, while a vapour chamber keeps temperatures in check.

Oppo Find X10

In my initial testing, everyday performance was smooth and responsive. Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.2, NFC, eSIM support, and dual-SIM functionality round out the connectivity package. The X-axis haptic motor is another highlight, delivering satisfying feedback while typing and navigating the interface.

There is one slightly annoying catch: the base model starts with 256GB of storage. A 512GB option is available, and I would seriously consider it if you shoot plenty of 4K video or take hundreds of photos. UFS 4.1 storage is fast, but there is no microSD card slot to bail you out later.

ColorOS 17: Useful AI, unnecessary baggage

The Find X10 runs ColorOS 17 based on Android 17. The interface is smooth, intuitive, and loaded with customisation options. Android purists may find the software skin a little heavy, but most users should appreciate the flexibility.

Oppo’s AI features are available without constantly shoving themselves into your face, which is refreshing. Mind Space also lets you save notes and screenshots for later, with the Snap Key providing convenient access.

Oppo Find X10

The less glamorous side? Bloatware. The initial setup includes pre-installed apps and additional prompts that make the experience feel busier than it needs to be. Thankfully, most of the unwanted apps can be ignored or uninstalled.

First impressions: Oppo is playing to win

The Find X10 has made a rather convincing first impression. It combines a slim design with ambitious camera hardware, a high-refresh-rate display, a massive battery, and smooth everyday performance. More importantly, it manages to do all this without turning into an uncomfortable brick.

There are still questions to answer. The cameras need more testing, battery endurance needs to be measured properly, and sustained performance deserves closer scrutiny. Pricing will also determine whether this package makes sense against its competition.

But if these early impressions are anything to go by, Oppo has another potential flagship winner on its hands. The Find X10 is not merely throwing impressive specifications at the wall. It appears to be building a phone that wants the best of everything without making you pay for it in bulk.

Now, Oppo, about that pricing. Let’s not ruin the mood.
