Say Hi to Wamda, Shua’a, Qalam, and Nuqta at SCRF 2024!

Young visitors have the opportunity to meet and greet the official mascots
of the annual event and dance their way with them until May 12

Sharjah, May 11, 2024

Young visitors to the Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival (SCRF) had a whale of a time on Friday as they took every opportunity to meet and greet the giant life-like characters of the annual event while dancing their way with them.

The focus was on Wamda, Shua’a, Qalam, and Nuqta – the four official mascots of the 12-day festival – as they delighted the children on their rounds across the event’s hall and lobbies.

“Each one of us is special in our own way. One has a book in hand, one a flash and one a pen while the other has nothing except that he is remarkably shorter than everyone else,” explained Mohammed Ashraf, who plays Shua’a, the character with a book in hand.

“We are excited to bring our festival characters to life and share their adventures with children and families. Our aim is to spark the imagination of young minds and create lasting memories that will inspire a love for reading and learning. It is always heartening to see the amount of love we get from our young fans, every time we are out and about in our costumes.”

This colorful quartet will be making appearances throughout the festival across the exhibition halls and hallways, engaging with the audience and spreading happiness wherever they go, twice daily – at 10am and 5pm.

Children and adults alike can look forward to interactive performances that promise fun, excitement, and plenty of laughter until May 12 when the annual event comes to a close.
