India clinched the bronze medal in hockey at the Paris Olympics with a 2-1 win over Spain in the third place match on Thursday.
This is India’s second straight Olympic bronze medal in hockey, having also finished third at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Harmanpreet Singh scored both the goals in India’s comeback win after Marc Miralles gave Spain the lead in the 18th minute.
The victory was also a fitting farewell for Indian team’s veteran goalkeeper Sreejesh who played his match in international hockey.
India had lost 3-2 to Germany in the semifinals, while Spain lost 4-0 to the Netherlands in the other semifinal match.
