Trailing 1-0 to Everton at halftime, Manchester City didn’t much look like the newly crowned Club World Cup champion despite the new golden FIFA badge on the front of the players’ shirts. But Pep Guardiola had a simple message to his players at the break. “The manager (told us) at halftime to just keep believing, we haven’t got this badge for no reason,” City midfielder Phil Foden said. “In the second half, yeah, wow, I think we blew them away with the way we played.” Foden started the comeback by equalizing in the 53rd minute, before Julian Alvarez’s penalty and…

If there’s something that comic book fans and movie studios can agree on, it’s that we’d all like to put 2023 in our rearview mirror. With the exceptions of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, almost every comic book movie failed or severely underperformed this year. Even DC’s Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom opened to dismal numbers last weekend, which is why it’s probably a good thing that 2024 only has two major comic book movies on the horizon. To get you ready for the year ahead, we’re sharing our picks for the seven most…
Gypsy Rose Blanchard, the Missouri woman who persuaded an online boyfriend to kill her mother after she had forced her to pretend for years that she was suffering from leukemia, muscular dystrophy and other serious illnesses, is set to be paroled on Thursday. The case sparked national tabloid interest after reports emerged that Gypsy Blanchard’s mother, Clauddine “Dee Dee” Blanchard, who was slain in 2015, had essentially kept her daughter prisoner, forcing her to use a wheelchair and feeding tube. Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will start plunging into theatres with the weight of its twin “Atlantis” on its shoulders. The sequel to the 2018 box office behemoth carries the trident of expectation, tasked with replicating the vibrant spectacle and emotional depth that captivated audiences. Warner Bros Abu Dhabi were the first to premiere the movie globally. While it did not quite reach the lofty heights of its predecessor, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom offers a watchable, if uneven, underwater adventure with flashes of brilliance buried beneath its somewhat reasonable depths. James Wan returns to the director’s helm and crafts…

Mitchell Marsh scored 96 in a partnership of 153 with Steve Smith to dig Australia out of a deep hole and help steer them to a lead of 241 over Pakistan at the end of the third day of the second Test on Thursday.
