Saturday Night Live (SNL) skits are hit or miss. But when it comes to holiday skits, they usually strike gold. There are so many great holiday skits throughout the sketch comedy show’s 48-year and 49-season run and counting. Think: Rachel Dratch’s Debbie Downer putting the Grinch in the holiday spirit. Digital Shorts like D**k in a Box starring Andy Samberg and Justin Timberlake, John Malkovich disappointing kids with his dark reading of a Christmas classic, the iconic Chanukah Song written and sung by Adam Sandler, Eddie Murphy celebrating Christmas in Mister Robinson’s Neighborhood are just a few of the stellar…
The Dubai Police fulfilled the wish of a student with hearing disabilities recently, and gave her the chance to experience a day in the life of a police officer. The experience included a custom-made police uniform, rides in luxury patrols, and visits to Dubai Police’s various police stations and general departments. Colonel Omar Musa Ashour, Deputy Director of Naif Police Station, warmly welcomed Maitha Yousuf Ahmed, a 15-year-old student of determination. He said, “This gesture is part of Dubai Police’s social role in spreading happiness and fostering trust in police alongside their security responsibilities.” Maitha served for two hours as…
Even as it tries to recover hostages through indirect talks with Hamas and army operations in the Gaza Strip, Israel has been declaring some of the missing as dead in captivity, a measure designed to grant anxious relatives a measure of closure. A three-person medical committee has been poring over videos from the October 7 rampage by Hamas-led Palestinian gunmen in southern Israel for signs of lethal injuries among those abducted, and cross-referencing with the testimony of hostages freed during a week-long Gaza truce that ended on Friday. That can suffice to determine that a hostage has died, even if…
Gold price remained on track to retest an all-time high, around the $2,079-2,080 zone set in May, despite a further dollar recovery acting as a headwind for the metal. On Friday, the yellow metal hit $2,075 an ounce – extending its winning streak for an eighth consecutive day – after Federal Reserve officials shifted their tone, inching closer to the long-awaited “pivot” away from aggressive interest rate hikes to the first rate cut in early 2024. According to metals strategists at Bank of America, steel will be the strongest trade in the first quarter of 2024, and base metals will…
“What I have in my hands, it’s something very precious,” says Lionel Messi, holding a golden ball in his hands. “It’s pure gold.” On December 2, the third day of COP28 in the UAE, the official account of the climate conference shared a video of the Argentine football legend spreading a message of sustainability. “There’s just one,” he says, referring to the object in his hands. “With effort and a sense of community we can take care of it.” As he says this, the ball slowly transforms into a model of the Earth. The video ends with Messi’s call to…
Will Ferrell has been making audiences laugh since his time on Saturday Night Live in the late 1990s. Ferrell left SNL and provided comedy fans with a string of instant classics in the 2000s, including Old School, Anchorman, Wedding Crashers, Talladega Nights, and Step Brothers. Amid that treasure trove of adult comedies, Ferrell found time to cross into holiday comedies and star in three Christmas movies. The obvious Ferrell-led Christmas movie to watch in December is Elf, where the actor plays a human raised by elves who travels to New York City to meet his biological father. However, two more of Ferrell’s Christmas…

The Vision Pro headset is poised to be one of the most significant products Apple has introduced in years, and it has the potential to launch a new era of success for the company. But at the same time, there’s a risk that it could end up cannibalizing the Mac line by giving plenty of people something that could replace their computer altogether. That means Apple has got to be very careful with how it handles the Vision Pro. It no doubt wants as many people to buy it as possible, but it wants that to happen without having to…
