Google’s Pixel 10a edges toward release, but don’t expect any major upgrades

Google’s next phone in the Pixel 10 lineup, the Pixel 10a, seems right around the corner. Most recently, tipster @evleaks shared a picture of the phone’s Verizon certification on X, shedding some light on its specifications. To kick things off, the Pixel 10a could feature a 6.285-inch FHD+ AMOLED screen, which could be marketed as a 6.3-inch screen. It will support 60/120Hz refresh rate.

The certification snapshot also reveals details about the Pixel 10a’s cameras. Google’s next affordable Pixel could feature a 48MP (f/1.7) primary camera, a 13MP (f/2.2) ultrawide camera, and a 13MP (f/2.2) front camera. Looking at the megapixels and the aperture numbers, the Pixel 10a might borrow its camera system from the Pixel 9a.

The model that has received a Verizon certification features 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage; it could be the baseline Pixel 10a, as the Pixel 9a offers up to 256GB of storage. Finally, the phone could also feature a 5,100 mAh battery, similar in capacity to the Pixel 9a. If that’s the case, the purported Pixel 10a could support 23W wired and 7.5W wireless charging speed.

Among the supported network technologies on the device are 5G NR SA, 5G NR NSA, LTE (Cat 19), and global bands. These aren’t the complete specifications for the smartphone, but they do give us an idea of what Google’s upcoming A-series handset could offer.

Meanwhile, previous leaks have suggested that the Pixel 10a could also borrow the Pixel 9a’s chipset, the Tensor G4 (4nm), which could disappoint users expecting a slight performance upgrade. Usually, smartphones undergo carrier certifications in the latter stages of development, nearing finalization.

This year, Google unveiled the Pixel 9a in March, and the Pixel 10a could also come out around the same time next year. However, there’s a slight chance that the company might bring the launch forward by a few weeks or days. Either way, you should see a new Pixel A-series smartphone in the United States in a couple of months.
