We got GTA VI limited-edition DualSense controllers before GTA VI

The wait for Grand Theft Auto VI is getting another expensive distraction. Sony has unveiled two limited-edition DualSense wireless controllers inspired by Rockstar’s upcoming game, bringing Vice City’s neon-soaked aesthetic to the PS5.

The controllers were revealed during the September 3 State of Play and come in Black and White editions. Both feature a shimmering, color-shifting finish designed around the contrasting looks of Vice City – its bright coastal days and neon-lit nights. Custom palm-tree details are molded directly into the controller, while official GTA VI branding completes the design.

Sony says the white version is inspired by Vice City at daybreak, with white sands, pastel skies, and its more relaxed side. The black model, meanwhile, is meant to capture the city’s nightlife and darker energy.

The DualSense gets the GTA VI treatment

Beyond the visual redesign, these are still DualSense controllers, meaning players will get the PS5’s haptic feedback and adaptive triggers when GTA VI launches. Sony says those features will respond to the action in the game, bringing the experiences of protagonists Jason and Lucia into the player’s hands.

That could make the controllers particularly appealing to GTA fans who want something more distinctive than a standard PS5 accessory. The custom finish and molded palm details give the two versions a stronger collector appeal, while their functionality remains that of a regular DualSense.

There is also a practical reason for fans to pay attention now: these aren’t being positioned as permanently available accessories. Sony says both versions will be sold in limited quantities, meaning availability could become a bigger issue once pre-orders open.

Pre-orders start September 10 ahead of GTA VI

The Grand Theft Auto VI Black and White Limited Edition DualSense controllers will launch on November 19, the same day GTA VI is scheduled to arrive. Both carry a recommended retail price of $84.99 in the US, while Sony lists prices of €84.99 in Europe and £74.99 in the UK.

US pre-orders begin September 10 at 7 a.m. PT / 10 a.m. ET through PlayStation Direct, with participating retailers also expected to offer the controllers in limited quantities. Sony says eligible direct orders can receive free launch-day delivery.

For GTA fans, the timing is hard to miss. GTA VI is still months away, but Sony is already turning its November launch into a wider PlayStation event – and these controllers give collectors a chance to own a small piece of Vice City before the game itself arrives.
