“I Always Believe I Can Win”: Libyan Expat Wins a New Property Through ‘Win Your Home in Dubai’

Tareq Al Tayar becomes the campaign’s 10th winner after entering the draw with a recent Primark purchase

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 24 August 2026: For Tareq Al Tayar, entering raffles has always been part of the Dubai experience and his positive outlook has paid off once again; the Libyan expat has become the 10th winner of Win Your Home in Dubai, taking home a brand-new studio apartment after a recent shopping trip to Primark at Dubai Mall.

Tareq first moved to Dubai in 2005 and has since built his life and family between Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Married since 2007 and a father of four, he works as a Statistician at the Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Centre. Having always participated in raffles and prize draws, Tareq was no stranger to the possibility of winning, having previously won a prize in 1998.

His latest winning entry came from a shopping trip to Primark at Dubai Mall. Just three days later, while at the bank completing paperwork, Tareq received a call informing him that he had won. Initially suspecting it could be a prank from a friend, he remained unsure until he received the official email confirming the news.

“I am always positive and believe that I can win, so when I received the call, I was happy but also suspicious because I thought maybe one of my friends was playing a joke on me,” said Tareq. “I was at the bank signing some papers and completing some procedures, so I didn’t really know how to react. When I received the email, I slowly started to believe that it was actually true.”

“Dubai has given us so many opportunities, and there are always new experiences and chances to win. It is a great place to live, and I have always believed that good things can happen here,” he added. “I am very happy with this win and still thinking about what I will do with the apartment, but for now I just want to enjoy this moment with my family.”

The Win Your Home in Dubai initiative, jointly led by Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), a part of the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET), and Dubai Chambers, offers shoppers the opportunity to win one of 12 new Binghatti Developers residential units across Dubai.

The grand draw is set for 30 August at Dubai Festival City Mall, where two lucky shoppers will win a studio apartment and a two-bedroom apartment.

Running until 30 August 2026, Win Your Home in Dubai continues to give residents and visitors more reasons to explore Dubai’s retail destinations this summer. Eligible residents and visitors aged 18 and above can enter for a chance to win an apartment by simply spending AED 500 at any of the 1,000+ participating brands across more than 3,500 retail outlets in Dubai. To validate their entry, shoppers can scan the QR code on official campaign materials at participating locations and upload their receipt.
