Instagram users have been asking for this feature for years, and it’s finally here. Instagram is finally rolling out the option to reorder the grid, letting you move posts around your profile however you like.
Previously, everything on your grid appeared in chronological order, and you could pin up to three posts at the top. Instagram announced this change on X. The feature is available on the mobile Instagram app only, covering both smartphones and tablets.
How to reorder posts on your Instagram profile grid?
Long-press any post on your profile until a menu appears, then tap “Reorder grid.” From there, drag and drop your posts into whatever order you want. Changes save automatically, and an undo button is available within each editing session.
There is no limit to how many times you can reorder, so you can keep tweaking until your profile looks exactly right. Your pinned posts and reels stay fixed at the top of your profile and are not affected by reordering.
Why does it matter?
The grid reordering feature is useful for highlighting a new chapter in your life, pulling older content back to the surface, refreshing your overall aesthetic, or showcasing specific projects and work. That means a post from 2015 can sit right next to something you shared yesterday if you want it to.
Grid Reordering is just one of several quality-of-life updates Instagram has been rolling out lately. You can now edit a comment after posting, though you only have a 15-minute window to do it. Instagram Stories also got a long-overdue fix, letting you correct mistakes after posting instead of deleting and starting over.
