Intersec 2024 showcases innovation and technology in fire prevention

Taking place from 16 – 18 January at Dubai World Trade Centre, Intersec 2024 is a pivotal gathering for global leaders in fire and emergency services

The event features 400 exhibitors from the Fire & Rescue sector and is the world’s largest industry gathering of its kind

Key Fire & Rescue exhibitors include NAFFCO, Hochiki, Al Futtaim Engineering LLC and Bristol Fire Engineering

Dubai, UAE: Fire safety was a top priority today at Intersec 2024, which features the world’s largest gathering of fire and emergency professionals. The exhibition’s Fire & Safety segment is hosted by Dubai Civil Defense and includes 400 local and international exhibitors. The event showcases the latest firefighting technologies and industry best practices while fostering connections between international experts in the field.

The Fire & Rescue section spans five halls at Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) and is the fastest-growing sector of the exhibition. Products presented include Fire Prevention and Protection, Fire Fighting Equipment, Emergency Alarm & Warning Systems and Rescue Equipment, Evacuation Equipment and Safety Design in Buildings.

A dedicated Fire & Rescue Conference began at Intersec today, with the opening session focusing on the revolutionary technologies that are transforming the industry. Speaking at the session, Saeed Alshaiba, Information Security Officer of Dubai Civil Defense said:

“In August 2021, we introduced Dubai Civil Defense Readiness, an application that combines several systems from Dubai Civil Defense into a single application. Crucially, this application enables us to predict fires using Artificial Intelligence (AI), identifying when a fire is most likely to happen and helping us to be prepared for any incident.”

The Dubai Civil Defense Readiness program is committed to protecting lives and property and is part of the UAE’s strategy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 40% by the year 2030, placing the country at the forefront of the global firefighting and environmental sustainability fields.

During Intersec 2024, Hochiki Middle East FZE, a leading provider of innovative Japanese-designed life safety solutions, is showcasing the company’s latest advanced fire detection systems, alarm devices, control panels, and wireless detection systems. Commenting on the evolving landscape of fire safety technology and key industry trends, Shahab Anjum, the Head of Sales at Hochiki Middle East said:

“The pandemic accelerated the adoption of remote monitoring and management technologies. Fire alarm systems with remote access capabilities now allow for real-time monitoring, diagnostics and maintenance without the need for physical presence.

“AI advanced sensor technologies improve the accuracy and reliability of detection, while reducing false alarms and cloud-based fire alarm solutions offer scalability and accessibility.”

UAE-based NAFFCO is a prominent exhibitor at Intersec’s Fire & Rescue section. One of the leading global manufacturers and suppliers of fire protection systems, firefighting equipment, and safety and security systems, NAFFCO is showcasing a comprehensive portfolio of cutting-edge products at Intersec 2024 which include fire trucks, fire and smoke detection technology, fire alarms and fire extinguishing systems.

Elsewhere today, Safety and Health exhibitors presented their latest safety wear and equipment collections during the Safety Walk, which was held on Intersec’s main stage. Sponsored by EnSafe Evacuation Chair, Jutec, and Teijin, the Safety Walk feature at Intersec underlines the growing importance of personal protective equipment (PPE) and shares the latest guidelines for PPE use and maintenance.

The Fire & Rescue Conference will continue throughout tomorrow (17 January), with sessions held by industry experts from the UK, Europe and GCC. Sessions include ‘The Future of Fire Safety in Smart Buildings’, led by Philip Witts, COO ATEIS; meanwhile, the ‘International Collaboration in Fire Safety’ session will be hosted by Mark Hardingham, Chair of the National Fire Chiefs Council (NFCC).

The 25th edition of Intersec encompasses five broad product sections: Commercial & Perimeter Security, Homeland Security & Policing, Fire & Rescue, Safety & Health, and Cyber Security, offering tailored solutions for each industry segment under one roof. Under the theme of ‘Innovating security tech for a quarter century’, the exhibition will host 1,000 exhibitors from more than 60 nations with more than 45,000 trade visitors from around the world travelling to attend the event.
