“Welcome Ramadan” is a Ramadan initiative that raises the spirit of cohesion and coexistence among expatriate communities

   As part of the “Ramadan Dubai” 1445 AH campaign, launched under the directives of H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council, with the aim of uniting the efforts of the government and private sectors in celebrating the holy month of Ramadan in Dubai, and with the aim of highlighting the festivity that decorates the emirate to celebrate the advent of the holy month.

On Tuesday, the second day of the holy month, the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department and the Community Development Authority in Dubai launched “Welcome Ramadan”. This is in cooperation with the Dubai Communities Management Group, in Barsha Heights in the courtyard of Hamel Al Ghaith Mosque, in coordination with partners “and the Dubai Municipality. “Welcome Ramadan” targets all segments of society of those residing in the region. It aims to integrate the expatriate communities residing in Dubai, raise the spirit of coexistence and cohesion, and strengthen brotherhood among the people of one neighborhood. The event will be held in two locations. In Barsha Heights for three days, from Tuesday to next Thursday. In Remraam on the next Saturday and Sunday. The event includes a number of activities. The activities include a group Iftar for (2,000) people daily for the region’s Muslim and non-Muslim residents, sports and fitness events, in addition to a corner for children to teach handicrafts and drawing. Drawing on pottery is an example. The second part begins immediately after Iftar. It includes a basketball tournament for expatriate communities (Basketball Cup for Communities) and religious lectures in English.

    In the presence of H.H. Ahmed Darwish Al Muhairi, Director General of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai, Saeed Ahmed Thani Al Tayer, Executive Director of the Planning and Social Development Sector at the Community Development Authority in Dubai, and Abdul Aziz Al Gergawi, CEO of Dubai Communities Management, they participated in distributing Iftar meals to the expatriate communities. They had Iftar with them in the courtyard of Hamel Al Ghaith Mosque.

Ahmed Darwish Al Muhairi, Director General of the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai, said: The Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai is keen to emphasize its societal role and the responsibility entrusted to it to achieve a pioneering position and a tolerant Islamic approach. He explained that the event is one of the purposeful community initiatives that target resident communities, especially in the holy month of Ramadan, to familiarize them closely with the concepts of the tolerant Islamic religion and the noble and inherited customs of the people of the UAE. He added that the event is one of a package of community, Islamic, cultural, and charitable programs and events launched by the Department during the holy month of Ramadan. He pointed out that these specific initiatives aim to make the Emirate of Dubai a Ramadan religious attraction for residents and others in the holy month of Ramadan.
