Motorola sets the launch date for a fresh slate of Razr foldable phones

The next generation of Motorola’s Razr foldables just got a launch date. Motorola has posted a 12-second-long teaser video on the microblogging platform X on April 20, 2026.

The teaser confirms that the Razr 2026 series will be unveiled on April 29, 2026, with public sales expected to follow on May 21, 2026, in the United States.

What did the teaser actually show?

The short clip offered close-up shots of what appears to be new colors for the Razr lineup, with the most eye-catching one being a purple quilted finish (which showed up on at least two devices). We also saw glimpses of a black fabric back option and a green model, both familiar to the Razr lineup.

Given that the company posted the teaser on its global account, some of them might not make it to shelves in the U.S. Why do I say that? After the teaser dropped, the company dropped another one with those devices removed.

What about prices?

While the confirmation of the Razr (2026) foldable in the U.S. is good news in itself, its prices, however, would qualify as bad news. Rumors suggest that the base Razr and Razr Plus could cost as much as $100 more than last year, while the Razr Ultra could see a price hike of $200.

So, this year, the most affordable model in the lineup, the Razr (2026), might start from $799. On the upside, the Razr Ultra 2026 is expected to arrive with a 5,000 mAh battery, which is a 300 mAh improvement over the previous version.

Motorola’s decision to raise prices across its foldable lineup, even though the phones lean into premium textures and new colorways, signals that foldables buyers have moved on from the initial sticker shock from the price tags.

However, it remains to be seen whether the market accepts mid-tier specifications (especially on the entry-level variant), accompanied by a $100 hike in price.
