OnlyOffice DocSpace: An open-source document collaboration platform for teams

Previously, we’ve talked about how ONLYOFFICE Docs changes the document co-editing experience. That’s certainly the truth, but we also wanted to point out how ONLYOFFICE DocSpace provides a collaborative platform for teams of all sizes. More specifically, it’s an open-source document collaboration platform with a bevy of excellent tools, built around the nature of customizable rooms. From collaboration rooms, custom rooms, and public rooms, to form-filling rooms, each virtual space is essentially made available to whomever you want included. Each person can connect, collaborate, and take full advantage of the platform’s best features such as an integrated AI assistant for office file work.

It stretches far beyond what any other office suite purports to do, especially on the collaboration front. Let’s talk a bit more about what else it has to offer and why it’s such a valuable tool for teams and businesses.

Welcome to DocSpace 3.0

Just upgraded, version 3.0 of ONLYOFFICE DocSpace adds a plethora of novelties across the platform. With more than 25 new features, there are new virtual data rooms, support has been added for OAuth2.0, improved management opportunities — for files and virtual rooms — and so much more. The tools are more practical, more helpful, and most importantly, more productive for everyone, guests and teammates included.

High compatibility, exceptional functionality

ONLYOFFICE directly integrates with Zoom and related meeting rooms, so that you can work with others in a more productive way. Beyond that, it supports Pipedrive, Drupal, WordPress, and Zapier. The latter integration makes it possible to connect DocSpace to thousands of other apps via zaps. So, out of the box, you get access to thousands of integrations, if not more, plus it also supports self-hosted and cloud-based deployments.

In case you’re not keeping score, that means it’s not only super easy to set up and get started using the platform, even with large teams, but it also offers full support for virtually any apps or services you’d need.

DocSpace itself supports text documents, spreadsheets, digital and interactive forms, PDFs, markdown files, e-books, and multimedia. But more importantly, it’s compatible with nearly any form of those files and documents from Microsoft Office to other suites. Advanced security features keep all media protected, even with multiple users involved. Moreover, all users can access the DocSpace mobile apps and connect from anywhere, without paying anything extra.

You mentioned “advanced security,” right?

That’s right. The ONLYOFFICE developers have adopted a “security-first” mindset. For starters, this is an open-source application with a GitHub repo. It’s fully compliant with international security standards. Best of all, it utilizes three levels of encryption, including at rest, in transit, and end-to-end. That ensures all data is protected. Everyone has secure access and administrators have full monitoring tools to ensure only authorized users are connected.

All documents come with extra permission options, so you can fine-tune who can do what in those documents. You’re always in full control of the content. Want to keep someone out, you can do just that. Want to make sure guests cannot edit and can only preview? That’s possible, too.

Competitive pricing for everyone

You’d think that all of that functionality comes at an inordinate cost, right? Wrong. ONLYOFFICE DocSpace allows an unlimited number of users, all of which can collaborate within documents, and guests are always free. There’s also a free version and a scalable enterprise edition of the suite. So, then who pays? Only administrators are paid for, with separate tiers based on the number of admins for a team.

You can start using any DocSpace apps, right now, for free. That includes installing the applications on Windows, Linux, MacOS, Android, and iOS. If you also want to get started in DocSpace online, you can do that. Business Cloud starts at $20 per admin per month, while Enterprise on-premises starts at $6,550 per server for a lifetime. Don’t be intimidated by the Business and Enterprise tiers, the Startup Cloud tier is free for all.

Don’t take our word for it, go try it out for yourself. You’ll be glad you did.
