Pakistan needs to establish Carbon Registry: Climate Financier Irfan Pardesi

DUBAI 9 June, 2024: Pakistan needs to establish a ‘Carbon Registry’ to tackle the climate change issues effectively, said Irfan Pardesi, President Zee Foundation.

Pardesi, who is also an entrepreneur and climate financier stated at an event to mark World Environment Day Event at Arts Council.

UN SDG Focused World Environment Day event was addressed by the representatives of global non-government organizations as well as Turkish Counsel General Cemal Sangu and Governor Sindh Kamran Tessori.

Pardesi emphasized the need that Pakistanis need to explore the potential of carbon credits and urged the government to setup a Carbon Registry to formalize this new industry that has an answer to a lot of our problems.

“It is the Green Gold and it’s nature. And now there is a financial incentive to protect nature. This is what’s needed in developing nations where changing behavior with just protect the environment slogans will never be enough, he felt .

He stressed that on this 30th anniversary of World Environment Day, we must consider our consumption habits and start considering the carbon footprint of the unused items. We have collected a lot of junk over the last years, especially the Americans.

During the event, the talks were mostly held by different organizations sharing their business models and impact and opening the floor for partnerships and conversations in similar areas of Services.
