Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra’s cool privacy display could appear on the next MacBook Pro

Apple’s upcoming M6 Pro and M6 Max MacBook Pros are quietly turning into the best laptops the company has ever made. We already knew about the new chipset, OLED panels, a brand-new design, and more. And now, Apple is reportedly borrowing one of Samsung’s coolest features for the next MacBook Pro, and it might arrive a lot sooner than previously thought.

If you have been following the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra, you already know about its Privacy Display feature. For those who missed it, the feature can instantly darkens the screen from anyone looking at it from the side. The effect can cover the full screen or just a section of it. It is incredibly handy if you work in public spaces and handle sensitive information.

Is Apple already fast-tracking the privacy display?

Back in February 2026, research firm Omdia predicted that Apple would adopt this technology for the MacBook Pro lineup by 2029. But as per Wccftech, a new report from leaker Schrödinger suggests that we will see this tech in the M6 Pro and Max MacBook Pro lineup, scheduled to release in December of this year.

According to a report released by market research firm Omdia on February 16, Samsung Electronics’ latest privacy display technology, introduced in the Galaxy S26 Ultra, is also expected to be applied to Apple MacBook laptops by 2029.

It is worth noting that only the M6 Pro and M6 Max models are expected to receive an OLED upgrade. The base M6 MacBook Pro is supposedly sticking with a mini-LED screen. So it follows that the Privacy Display feature would also be limited to the Pro and Max variants.

What else is new with the M6 Pro and M6 Max MacBook Pros?

Apple is not just upgrading the display. The M6 Pro and M6 Max MacBook Pros are also getting a complete redesign and a new cooling system. That said, they are also getting a significant price bump, which is a bummer.

None of this is confirmed yet, so treat it with appropriate caution. But if the leaks hold up, the next MacBook Pro could be one of the most significant upgrades in years, and may finally push me to upgrade from my M1 Pro MacBook Pro.
