Samsung Galaxy S27 is getting a new Pro model, and it’s the Ultra without the S Pen

Samsung has maintained the same three-model Galaxy S lineup since 2020: standard, Plus, and Ultra. The Galaxy S27 is about to change that. According to industry sources first reported by leaker Ice Universe on X, Samsung’s Mobile eXperience division has decided to add a new “Pro” model to the Galaxy S27 series, expanding the flagship lineup to four models: Galaxy S27, S27+, S27 Pro, and S27 Ultra.

BREAKING! Samsung Galaxy S27 series will introduce a new “Pro” model — essentially an Ultra without the S Pen.

That means the lineup will expand to four models: Galaxy S27, S27+, S27 Pro, and S27 Ultra.

Samsung Electronics plans to add a new high-end model to the Galaxy S27…

— Ice Universe (@UniverseIce) April 6, 2026

What is the Galaxy S27 Pro?

Think of it as the Samsung Galaxy Ultra without the S Pen. It’s not a replacement for the Plus, but a new high-end option sitting between the Plus and Ultra. A perfect phone for someone who needs the Ultra features but has never used an S Pen. It might also result in a price cut, making the device even more enticing.

An industry insider confirmed that specific details, like display size, are still being finalized, but the general direction is clear. Features exclusive to the Ultra, including the privacy display that received strong reactions on the Galaxy S26 Ultra, are expected to expand to both the Pro and Ultra models in the next generation.

Is this Samsung’s response to Apple?

Apple currently structures its lineup with four models: standard, Air, Pro, and Pro Max. According to the post by Ice Universe, some analysts are interpreting that Samsung might be trying to replicate that strategy. However, given the S25 Edge’s poor sales, it is opting for a Pro model instead of a slim one.

A quick note on the S Pen

If you are hoping Samsung reverses course on its S Pen Bluetooth removal, don’t hold your breath. Samsung removed Bluetooth capabilities from the S Pen on the Galaxy S25 Ultra, citing low usage, and the S26 Ultra continued that trend.

Initial thoughts after 12h with the Galaxy S25 Ultra:

📐New corners are less fetching, but much more comfortable

🖋️Still annoyed, but I dont expect I’ll miss the S Pen features. (Samsung says it pulled them because <1% of customers used them.)

Including an S27 Pro does give Samsung some leeway to reintroduce those features, but I wouldn’t hold my breath for it. Samsung confirmed to reviewer Michael Fisher that fewer than 1% of buyers used the Bluetooth features, which is why the hardware was removed. And I don’t think the company will revisit that soon.
