Sonos appears to have a new pair of premium headphones ready to launch, but the company may have very little left to reveal. A leak has reportedly exposed the Sonos Ace Ultra ahead of its expected official announcement, including its price, colors, battery life, and several hardware upgrades over the original Ace.
According to Dealabs, the Ace Ultra is expected to launch in Europe for €449, making it €50 cheaper than the original Sonos Ace’s €499 launch price. The headphones are reportedly scheduled to be announced on September 1, 2026, with sales expected to begin on September 29.
Sonos appears to be fixing the Ace’s biggest problems
The Ace Ultra is expected to retain much of the design introduced with the original Ace, although leaked images show a slightly larger frame, deeper earcups and a somewhat bulkier appearance. Three colors are reportedly planned: Black, White and Agave, a blue-green shade.
The more significant changes are inside. Dealabs reports that active noise cancellation could be up to twice as effective as on the original Ace, while battery life is expected to reach 35 hours with ANC enabled. Fast charging could also provide around three hours of playback from three minutes of charging.
Sonos is also reportedly adding an adjustable headband, swiveling earcups and foam ear cushions, alongside beamforming microphones for calls. Audio transfer is expected to work with the Sonos system through a single touch, with Dolby Atmos compatibility and automatic port detection also listed among the changes.
A touchscreen and automatic port detection could make controls and wired connections easier, while replaceable ear pads and a replaceable battery would make the headphones easier to maintain over a longer period.
A lower price could give Sonos another shot
The Ace launched in 2024 at €499, but its limited integration with the broader Sonos ecosystem made its premium pricing harder to justify against established rivals from Bose, Sony and Apple. The Ace Ultra’s lower launch price could signal a deliberate attempt to address that problem.
Pricing is only part of the equation. Sonos CEO Tom Conrad has confirmed that the company will hold a product launch event in September focused on artificial intelligence and connected homes, suggesting the Ace Ultra could be part of a broader product strategy rather than a standalone refresh.
For buyers considering premium noise-canceling headphones, the lower price, longer battery life and stronger ANC could make the Ace Ultra considerably more competitive. Sonos has not yet officially announced the headphones, however, so the leaked specifications, pricing and launch dates should be treated as unconfirmed until the company makes them official.
